Thanks, Dev! The time (1950) was just an idea, and it certainly is not fixed. The website Reza referred to actually can be of some help, but it is not practical since I would like the data at large scale.

In fact, I would also like to see other data:

1. the number of matches played by major European clubs every year
2. the number of matches star players have played every year (including NT duties, club matches)
3. the number of matches missed due to injury/fatigue by players/clubs

At this point, I don't need some complete or exhaustive data set (wouldn't mind that of course), but I just want to have enough samples to show a trend. I am interested in the history of competition between major European clubs and NT over star players, so any related data/literature would help.

This is the only site that I post for help (even though I realize that there are more football fan sites out there that I am registered for). Thanks to everyone who is willing or able to help.

Technically speaking, what you're asking for is a pretty difficult "data processing" process, as it would require lots of algorithms to only put all of that info into one place.

I don't believe any football site has such many options for a filter... although, what you're asking for should have been FIFA's job since they collect all official records.

anyway, personally I simply use wikipedia for such information.. but I use it per individual.

I have tried wikipedia too, but it is easier to collect individual players' # of games played per season, but somehow I don't see information on national team's. I don't mind that I have to do more work, as long as it is still within reasonable.

Just to let you know I had a quick look Xu and the 11v11 site and Wikipedia (not a reliable source) seem to be the best I can see. Depending on how important it is, have you considered contacting FIFA directly to ask if there's a resource you can access for this stuff?

Thanks, Dev. It is not that important (at least as of now), and it is just out of my own personal interest. I suppose that I can always try to contact FIFA directly if need be - not sure if they will get back to me though.

I remember about 20 years ago (I think it was in December of 1996 shortly after Milan was eliminated from Champions League at San Siro) I actually wrote a letter to AC Milan (through regular mail with stamps ), but never heard back from them. I don't think I will want to try it again anytime soon.

They have an email service to contact them. I think sometimes it can depend on what you request, but you're right, you may not hear back.

Can anyone please tell me how I can collect the information on how many official games any national team played every year, for example, I am looking for something like this:

the years and NTs are just an example.

You can find it but it is going to take manual work. I will get you started with http://www.rsssf.com/ . Not the prettiest but a reliable exhaustive source that has been maintained since the 90s. Start with the national teams section. I do not envy the browsing you will have to do

I would also try http://www.transfermarkt.com/england/rek...erein/3299 This is the page for England for instance. They have substantial amount of information on past players and fixtures and I constantly refer to it.
