I think Niang has shown immense growth since he joined last summer. I'm really pleased with how he's doing and it won't be long before he scores, as he's now showing much more direction towards goal rather than sticking to the wing. Last night he had two great chances and was unfortunate.

Physically at least. His huge frame, like Balo, allows him to take long balls down off his chest. This is a big perk as it can take pressure off of midfield/defense when they are penned in during an attack.

Like all young players, quit the flicks and tricks.

M’Baye Niang has stirred up controversy by denying Massimiliano Allegri’s claims he is tired and needs a rest.

Today the Milan Coach said in his Press conference that Niang probably wouldn’t start against Barcelona because he needed to rest and recuperate.

“It’s not true what they say in newspapers that I am not playing due to pain or injury,” wrote the striker on Twitter.

“It is simply the Coach’s choice.”

Niang has been playing regularly as part of a trident attack in Serie A recently, but Mario Balotelli is cup-tied and cannot face Barcelona in the Champions League.

Maybe Allegri is trying to protect Niang. A youngster can easily get destroyed by such pressure. Obviously Allegri doesn't think Niang is ready. I guess if you don't let them try, you will never know.

I am all for Niang in place of Bojan. Pazzini has to play though. We need a player with good physicality to do the dirty work as CF. Niang is too young (hence, inexperienced) to know how to be dirty.

I agree, that one aspect Pazzini will be useful for. He'll hold the ball and get us free kicks. Other than that, not expecting much from him.

I don't get these Niang comments. Allegri clearly said the kid needs to be evaluated to see his condition as he might need rest, nothing about pain or injury. So either Niang's overreacting to the comment, or the media is making more out of it than true.

Either way, Niang was better off keeping his mouth shut or talking to Allegri in private.

Niang played tonight against Barcelona and was involved in the second goal.

Speaking of which, I noticed that whenever a player complained in public that he didn't get enough attention from the coach, he would get some playing minutes. It has happened to at least Mesbah (last season), Pato, and Niang (to a lesser extent, because I didn't think Allegri was totally going to bench him). Allegri is not known to be very flexible, judging by the way he treated Gattuso, Pirlo, Nesta, Inzaghi, and co (at least according to the rumors), so it is interesting to see that his side of being diplomatic.

But I do wholeheartedly agree that Niang should keep his mouth shut and focus his energy on the pitch. I believe that a few weeks he was seen on street in a T-shirt with the big "F**K U" letters on front. It is not the end of the world since he is still a teenager, but maturity can help him get to success more smoothly.
