Summer mercato 2012

Now they would not expect the fans to grumble any more as they claim to have done something heroic by keeping Silva. I doubt there would be any more quality signings this summer.

I wouldn't trust Galliani's words. I also read on milannews that he said we need one defender and one midfielder.

As for the whole Thiago Silva saga, quite honestly Berlu can go screw himself over this "act of hedonism". I hope the supporters in Milan will perform a peaceful protest over this whole episode and the way the club is run. Geo, I'd love if it was true what you said about warding rich clubs away, but I must say it's hard to believe.

Responding to Revolver about Cassano, I honestly don't think he's particularly better for Italy than Milan. I think over the past year he was at his best at the start of the season for us, just my opinion.

News regarding Acerbi, as there are rumours that Genoa and Chievo have found an agreement and we'll get him from Genoa (football Italia is my source). I also read on milannews that his agent has commented (on twitter I think) that he's happy to see Thiago Silva stay and looks forward to Acerbi-Silva partnership next season.

edit: forgot to mention I came across an interesting article on goal.com which might give a little insight or make you think about our injuries the past season

Some players play better with club, others with NT.

About Pirlo, he is the one who decided to leave. He didn't want to play except in deep-lying position so it his choice. If he stays and Milan and insist to play in that role, he could play like he has been showing lately, not like when he plays with NT.

If Pirlo plays good or bad game, that doesn't attract my attention. It is his own business.

I was not talking about why Pirlo left Milan, we all know it's his choice. All I'm saying is how magnificent he is. I really cannot recall I've ever seen a player as intelligent as him.

As for Monty, well he didn't play that bad imo, for his 15 minutes on the pitch, he made a good shot at least, something Motta was not able to do for 75 minutes.

Anyway, when talking about Italian NT, I don't know for you guys, but I'm really disappointed with Prandelli. Last night the tactics was horrible, as well as players selection. Maggio was not providing anything in attack, and yet he's liability defensively. It's better to play Abate then, at least he's decent defensively. Same for Giaccherini. The best left back in Italy is on the bench and a winger plays on the left, and still cannot provide anything in attack. Same for midfield. Either Motta or Marchisio have to be benched.

Hahaha

Honestly, it is possible but I am still sticking with Berlu is a man who needs love and attention more than anything else.
He could easily do that by buying Dede, Alba, Honda, DE Rossi, Strootman, Hernanes, and Cavani to Milan

It's over for him ... Real Madrid could buy him 50M ...
If Napoli accepts after selling Lavezzi (24M), I will lose respect for them unless they buy other players at the same level !!

Is Lavezzi deal really done Geo?
MILAN! MILAN! SOLO CON TE!
MILAN! MILAN! SEMPRE PER TE!

It is not officially announced yet ...
But the agent of Lavezzi said an agreement was reached between both clubs, and between the player and PSG ...

That's why PSG seems to want a real goalscorer now, to play him along Lavezzi, which could be a really strong attack with Pastore or Nene (it seems Nene is going to leave, if he doesn't get a renewal, normally to Lille) behind them ...
One should not speak ill of the dead.
So stop laughing at Juventus !

that article is enjoyable to read
does allegri bring his backroom staff from cagliari to milan??
i think allegri is a good tactician, but not a good coach

So, it we somehow manage to get Strootman (mostly because of Riola) I will be done for the summer, cuz there is no way in hell Silvio will cough up money for some superstar.

Now the hunt for the Loaners is starting. And maybe some fked up player that will do good on the Euros and will cost 1-1.5 mil.

Despite this, I am optimistic for next season. I think we have a great team after a long time. We just need to avoid injuries, that is key.

We dismantled Arsenal this past season, and we came agonizingly close to retaining the Scudetto. Al this despite injuries. Now that we have confirmed the spine of our team (admittedly after a whole circus), I think, as Ibra said, playing together more and more will make us better. Keeping Boateng, T. Silva and Pato fit is our biggest concern imo. I know this sounds silly but we had a better season than Manchester United, Arsenal, Inter etc. We are not THAT far away imo from the top.

I don't normally do formations with possible players etc. because you guys do a great job of that stuff. But I honestly believe that we have a great team.

Galliani said Acerbi will probably come, which is great news. Let's see if we get a midfielder.

Losing Nene is a big loss for PSG if I'm honest, he was excellent last season.

Rumours continue with us and the mercato. As I said before, Galliani has said we need a defender and a midfielder. Worryingly the defender is Acerbi (well, this doesn't worry me so much) and the midfielder is someone new, Flamini or Aquilani.

Given Juve have almost secured both Asamoah and Isla to add to what is already the strongest midfield in Italy, Galliani's comments scare me. No to Flamini and Aquilani, we need someone better who can be a starter. That said, I don't place much trust in Galliani's words right now, as I think we're a little short on numbers at the moment with the squad if I'm correct?

Those confirmed are:

Abbiati, Amelia, Gabriel, Abate, Mesbah, Mexes, Yepes, Bonera, Thiago Silva, Antonini, Taiwo, Didac Vila, De Sciglio, Ambrosini, Muntari, Nocerino, Urby, Traore, Montolivo, Boateng, Cassano, Pato, Robinho, El Shaarawy, Ibra. Add to this Acerbi and one new midfielder.

That is 27, but of that I have major doubts that we'd keep Mesbah, Taiwo and Didac Vila, so in reality we have 24. We must get another LB or move Urby there (although maybe De Sciglio can earn the shirt). That still means we have only 8 midfielders and that's counting both Boateng and Urby. Realistically, we would still need 1 more midfielder. I'm also expecting one of the forwards (most likely Cassano or Robinho) to leave, most likely replacing them with a forward more like Maxi Lopez (prima punta and more of a focal point).

Regarding Acerbi, according to milannews even if Genoa don't get him and Chievo do, then we're still most likely to have him as we'll make an offer involving Paloschi and other youngsters.
I think Acerbi is good, well at last better than Bonera and to me he is better than Mexes too. I think it will be smart to sell Mexes due to after Euro and the fact that his contrac is 8mil a year. Then use that money to get Dede. Thus the CBs will be Silva, Dede, Acerbi, Bonera and Yepes.

Dev, I think Didac will be back as he is a better LB than anyone at Milan. Mesbah and Taiwo will leave, hopefully owe two can generate 10mil.

Also, if Gabriel is any good, Milan should sell Amelia for some quick cash.

As for midfield, having Ambro, Nocerino, Muntari, Monty, Traore, Boateng and Urby, save to say another mid will come, hopefully Strootman. If that's the case, as long as these Mids stay relatively healthy, that's good enough for Serie A.

Same goes for the strikers, even if Milan don't replace Robinho when he is sold, a striker force with Ibra, Cassano, Pato and SES are pretty solid.

Galliani:
“I feel a lot better now thanks to President Silvio Berlusconi. The Milanisti are happy now? I’m also a Milanista,” Galliani said. “The fans should thank president Berlusconi. What he did was an act of heroism. By keeping Thiago Silva, Milan will lose a lot of money, also this year. Money that Berlusconi is putting up.

“Many clubs sell their best players who then go abroad. The words from T. Silva’s agent? We will calmly talk. We’ll see what happens. Thiago still has 4 years left of his contract. We will find a solution with Thiago Silva’s agent. Thiago Silva will stay at Milan until the 30th of June 2016. The fans should thank Berlusconi. The Milanisti must remember what Berlusconi has done for Milan in the past 26 years,” Galliani continued.

“If it was a crucial time to keep Thiago? Logic and reason led us to make this deal, as well as the current financial state. Berlusconi’s heart prevailed. Like Balzac once said: ‘The heart has its reasons that reason knows nothing of’. Ibrahimovic will certainly stay at Milan. The rest of the transfer market? There is no transfer market. We are absolutely covered. We have all the players that we need. I don’t know what to say to a Milanista who expects something else this summer besides the fact that we have kept Thiago Silva.

“We have a fantastic squad – a squad that would have won the Scudetto if Thiago Silva hadn’t gotten injured. We lost 8 points without Thiago Silva. Thiago Silva has never asked to be sold. I understand Thiago Silva’s agent. He lost a very big commission,” concluded Galliani the interview with Azzurro Italia
AC Milan News @Milanello
Adriano Galliani: "The rest of the transfer market? There is no transfer market. We are absolutely covered. We have all the players that we need."
Galliani: "We have a fantastic squad - a squad that would have won the Scudetto if Thiago Silva hadn't gotten injured."
Galliani: "I don't know what to say to a Milanista who expects something else besides the fact that we have kept Thiago Silva."
Galliani: "Milan is already complete. We're waiting for a 5th defender, which will probably be Acerbi, like Lo Monaco confirmed today."
Galliani: "Nesta? I have spoken with him, but we'll see. I offered him a 1-year extension and now we'll see what happens in our defence."
Galliani: "When Nesta told me that he would leave us, I went ahead and tried to sign Acerbi, but now we will see what happens."
Galliani: "I'm not worried about Cassano's words, it's clear that if he wanted to go, another player will arrive"
Silvio Berlusconi: "We refused an offer of €46 million. My old Milanista heart made me say no."
Berlusconi: "We didn't change our minds. We didn't want to sell the player, but we received an extraordinary offer from PSG."
Berlusconi: "I don't believe that PSG have a reason to have an attitude like that, because we have always been clear and we're happy."
Berlusconi: "We told PSG from the beginning that we hadn't made a definitive decision, but that we wanted to hear what could be their offer"
Berlusconi: "It was only after we heard PSG's offer, and looked abroad to find a replacement, that we made our decision."
Berlusconi: "PSG gave us a very interesting offer. It was close to €46 million."
Berlusconi: "We took notice of the possibility of getting a lot of money, but we didn't find an adequate replacement for Thiago Silva."
Berlusconi: "It's only natural that the agent will come knocking on our door, but Thiago is a great man and we can easily find an solution."
Berlusconi: "We're in crisis, and even my family was hit with a huge smack, a proper and real robbery of century. I'm referring to the €564 million in cash that we paid because of the Mondadori case. That brought us in difficulty.
Berlusconi: "It made it difficult for us to support the revenue and expenditure of Milan, so we evaluated the offers that we received."
Berlusconi: "We hope that we will have the best defence next year."
Berlusconi: "I have great affection for Galliani. Our relationship is even more consolidated and stronger than 26 years ago."
Berlusconi: "Ibra will also stay at Milan because he is the best in the role as the striker."
