Galliani said he has to "resist the temptation" from other big clubs in europe because their willing to do/offer crazy things for silva.. where as corinthians want pato on loan, i can see that happening really, back to brazil to help him regain better health and form while we won't need to pay his wages for a season, maybe it'll leave us better off financially to make another signing..
As good as silva is guys, and may not be a CB like him for a while, a 50mln deal for him really after we payed close to nothing might be the right thing to do.. it's certainly wrong in terms of finding a CB like him, bcus there is none out there. However, with that type of money.. might need it
I'm against selling silva though over all, Ibra on the other hand.. 30mln for him i would take in a second and offload a crapload of wages, then i'd sign cavani with that money
I find it good in an better economically/better for the player as well that we do our deals through genoa.. not only do we not have to pay full amounts right away, but some of the times younger players will play for genoa, once they come to us they are better prepared and have more experience
I'm not sure how sending Pato back to Brazil helps if I'm honest. Imo, we need to take time, but get to the bottom of his problems once and for all and he has to play a part in our squad.
We also can't afford to lose Thiago Silva, he's key to our system, a leader in the squad and also the only one left who can really lead our defence. Without him, we not only give a signal of weakness, we have to start rebuilding again.
Ibra on the other hand is another who we can't necessarily afford to lose. He's a big player for us and to lose him would be to lose a winning factor in our squad. He's not as valuable for us as Thiago, but if he goes then we need to replace him with an equally valuable figure (Cavani's probably worth more than Ibra now due to age, though he'd be a dream).
Here's some sad news for those of us who like Cavani:

I must admit though, I never realised Cavani's potential until I saw him at Napoli. It was mostly because he wasn't a player I saw much of before then and he was often used in the wrong positions.

Player like Ganso or others who cost much less than when they already play in Europe or in big competition like Euro/World Cup. I don't want Milan turn to be an Arsenal but at the same time Milan should not just buy experienced player without any big name (cheap or free transfer type of players like Traore, Nocerino). Milan should do like MU when they bought fake Ronaldo (and of course Nani), still not proven with chance to flop but they got with reasonable price), not like Wenger who got many hot prospects but they still need so ton of games to make mistakes so that they can develop to players ready to play in a big stage.
It is duty for management to make big transfer when needed, transfer like Ibrahimovic, to boost the moral, confidence and the quality of the team otherwise we will be like Napoli, Udinese etc, who have many players ready to turn into established ones but fail to achieve glory due to lack of some world class players (not only for quality perspective but also mentality).
Ganso, Strootman, Verrati: Could actually Milan afford to buy them?
Verrati seems unlikely, Juve seem to have him secured, although there are rumours we might be trying to squeeze in ahead them. He looks good though and we can definitely afford him.
I agree with the rest of your post. We should be looking to find emerging talent more often on the market, as well as making a policy of developing our youth as much as possible (getting as many youth talents in the first team squad as possible). However, a club of Milan's stature must also be prepared to make big purchases once in a while. It's about boosting morale within the club, raising the quality and level of the side, as well as key for marketing etc. In addition to this, as silly as it sounds, it's a clear sign of intent and power.
