Summer mercato 2012

we did win the scudetto last year too, so I doubt that would have much impact on the mercato. It is all about the availability of good players and Berlusconi's willingness to spend.

Considering that Lazio is pretty much the same team as three yrs ago with the exception of Hernanes and Klose this year. That's show how good Hernanes is.

Also, don't undermine how good Hernanes is by stating Udin does not have a Legit ACM and yet still shoulder to shoulder with Lazio( Lazio is leading by 2 pts at this moment). That two pts is also how much Milan is leading Juve, while Juve does not have a legit WC Striker, while Milan got three in Ibra, Pato and Robinho. Won't that mean Ibra and Robinho are only a bit better than Matri, Borri, Fabio and Vucinic.

Lastly, I don't even know why are we having this discussion as none of them are being link to Milan or will probably be Milan players in the near future.

Your point is that Hernanes is better because he isn't playing with good players. It is complete nonsense. Because he is the big fish in a small pond that makes him better than the two players who are widely accepted as the best midfielders in the world. If Hernanes was genuinely better than Xavi and Iniesta or even close to it do you honestly think he'd still be at Lazio? Why is there no £50m bid from Man City or whoever? He's a good player who could be very good but he's not even at the same table as Xavi and Iniesta. What Barca have at the moment is rare and very similar to what Milan had in the early 90's. They have a midfield (in Milan's case it was defence) of legendry players who have come through their youth set-up and some of the best players in their positions to supplement them from their set-up. They've complimented that with very astute buys to compliment them. Just as in Milan's case the results are devestating.

Pretty much my thought about hernanes part!

To defeat barca,it's useless to work on midfield, our midfield can compete with anyone except barca, they are the best by far,not a wise move to attack their strongest weapon.we should put more empahsis on LB and counter effeciency.

Honestly, I really don't think a LB or even a complete overhaul of the system to counter attack is good enough against Barca. If Barca is firing on all cyclinders, there really is not much any team could do. You look at Barca loses over the years and I really think only 2 of them did they play at full strength and actually wanted the win, while the rest of their loses were mainly b/c they were not playing at their fullest. Milan gave them a strong fight in both ties earlier but that still came out short.

I think barca are beatable now, but you need to rush them and physically out match them, we're not even close to being able to do that.

I have no idea who we're looking at, I would hope we hold off until after the euros anyway, there's a lot of talent in germany and it would be good to see which players come to the fore.

failing that who says we can't throw our hats into the ring for modric if he looks to leave totenham again?
well if you look back to when inter beat them 3-1, really what you need to beat barca is a solid defense, which we pretty much have other then our LB position, and you can't afford to make any mistakes.. for example in our game if robinho had scored that goal where he had a pretty much open net the result could've been in our favour.. you wont out play barca, but you can definitely hit them on the counter and there not impossible to defend against.. they play with a system that takes years of mastering, to be honest only an italian based system can compete against them.. english teams and there open fast play gets destroyed by barca every time.. we'll see what happens this season but ill be happy with just the scudetto.. we can make it 19 this season, hopefully after next season get the 2nd star.. berlusconii did say that was his goal.. along with another CL title..

anyhow, when interviewing allegri he had said our position will be good this year in CL, they hope to make it as far as possible to make their mark amongst the best teams in europe again, however he also mentioned that next season with a few more reinforcements and less injuries that the teams position in CL would be a lot better ..

IMO hernanes and a LB would be a dream.. keep in mind barca will have this great messi for a long while to come now since he's still young, but xavi is nearing his end.. hes like 32 correct me if im wwrong, he wont play forever and same goes for a few other players they have (dani alves, puyol)
worth remembering we can bring back paloschi for next year, so a striker is definitely not a priority.
"you wont out play barca, but you can definitely hit them on the counter and there not impossible to defend against.. "

Well said!!! wcmilan.but I still believe that a player like robben will be more helpful than hernanes when we facing barca, and a midfielder like nocerino can offer much more in such situation.

We don't have that counter of Inter when they beat Barca, 3 players with fair space and 15 seconds to get the ball into the net. we don't even compare to mediocre teams when counter, coz the team has a "next to Barca" midfield and build up attack around Ibra, and rarely practice counter I guess.
That Inter 3-1 game happened almost 2 yrs ago and a lot had changed since. Barca got Cesc, Sanchez, and Villa now. On top of that, Iniesta was injured in that game, if I remember correctly. I had been saying it a lot of times, Barca is byfar the best team at this moment if all things are equal. Luckily, football is full of surprises and nothing seems to be equal before and during the match, just look at Milan and probably CL worst defeat in the 2005 final. I see why alot of people kept saying counter is the best form against Barca, simply b/c you really can't beat them by playing a possession game, or trade punches with them, or stuff them out with pressure. They just got too much talents for any teams to handle. As long as Pep does not try to be a mastermind and play 8 midfielders with Messi and a GK, Barca is very hard to beat.
Having said all that, I don't think Barca is invincible, teams just need commit to defending, score their chances and really play a bit dirty from the start to disrupt Barca's flow, lastly, also hope that Pep uses Sergio and Mascheano as CBs.

As much as I love Robben. No to him as he is only great and maintain to stay healthy for 5 months before big INT'L tournament. I guess the best time to get Robben would be the Winter Transfer window of 2014, since he will probably be injured right after Euro 2012 to X'mas 2013.
