Here is my issue with the 48k.

Say we win the Scudetto in a couple of years as a result of smart investing in quality players and have a couple of top 3 finishes in the next few years too. We also reach the CL quarter or above a few times and combined with significant marketing in Asia, manage to vastly grow our fan base.

Then there is also the question of new fans that come along with a star signing. Given the kind of money we have and the way Berlusconi operatees, there will be a star signing. Then you conisder Bee's marketing plans and the way Barbara envisioned it, we will very likely increase our fan base by a good size. Besides Our stadium attendance can't possibly go worse than they have in the last 2 years.

In such a case a 48k stadio expandable to 50k will do shit for us. We will be able to fill it up rather well and I expect the tickets for Derbies and big CL nights to sell out within hours.

Spurs' new stadium is 61K. They have also tied with the NFL to host 2 games per year for the next 10 years. That is the kind of deals I want to see Babs making. When things are going good for us again, filling a 48-50K will not be a problem for us.

Let's not forget that a lot of people do not come to San Siro coz it is so shitty and there is nothing to do there. With a new stadium that has bars, restaraunts, malls and is most of all Family friendly- we will see a rise in attendance. Most of all it is easily accessible by publi transport. In my estimation- we will be looking at another expansion in 10 years and from looking at the map and the small area that they ahve available, I can't fathom how they will expand.

Thought these were interesting comments from De Laurentis about the Napoli stadium:

Interesting is seeing his perspective on the 41,000 capacity. I expect there's something that clubs in Italy are aware of that we don't see.

Thanks for the link. I saw this on Milannews yesterday, but forgot to mention it. At this point I'm not too concerned.

I would not worry too much about it either. These kinds of inquiries happen all the time in the construction industry. I would have been more concerned if they said that the funding for the stadium were no longer available.

I wasn't concerned, but having seen the latest reports I am a little now Big Grin Look forward to reading Hasan's article when I get a few minutes

Edit: just want to say I read Hasan's article and as always it's very well written. I had thought it would have been a longer opinion piece though. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the situation Hasan.

Apparently, this is serious now, from the press it seems that the whole project stopped.
