Definitely a great signing. Barcelona used him poorly but they have the money to afford mistakes like that. They eventually got it right after Suarez joined, though.

I saw the match live. As great as his season has been, I just feel that he's playing up to expectations. He's an outstanding player, so it's hardly a surprise he's done great.

Perhaps but then you have another South American in Di Maria who also leaves La Liga to go to the BPL but then has an absolutely terrible season. Sanchez should be given some credit for being able to fit in so quickly at they say South Americans usually have a tough time adapting to football and life in England in general.

That's fair, I think he deserves the plaudits, but what I meant is he's also set the bar very high, so it's expected that anything less than great would be considered underwhelming.
Di Maria's a good example, a great player who has had a bad season and has been slaughtered in the media and among fans as a result, simply because he's set a very high bar. |
