Ronaldo: I hope Ancelotti stays at Real Madrid

The Portuguese forward gave his public backing to the Italian, while team-mate James Rodriguez warned the club against sacking the coach

Cristiano Ronaldo has thrown his support behind Carlo Ancelotti as he awaits news of his future at Real Madrid.

The club finished two points behind the Catalans in La Liga, were eliminated at the semi-final stage of the Champions League and exited the Copa del Rey back in January.

Madrid have lined up Napoli boss Rafa Benitez as Ancelotti's replacement and he could be relieved of his duties by Monday.

However, Ronaldo tweeted a message of support along with a picture of the football giants embracing in the Santiago Bernabeu dressing room after the club's 7-3 thrashing of Getafe on Saturday.

"Great coach and an amazing person," Ronaldo wrote, referring to Ancelotti. "Hope we work together next season."

Madrid team-mate James Rodriguez directed a word of warning towards the club as he hinted that getting rid of the three-time Champions League-winning coach would disrupt the squad's harmony.

"Ancelotti leaving would be tough to take," the Colombian attacker told Gol TV. "He came in two years ago, he knows the team really well, know what we're about and how we act.

"But it's not my decision and I shouldn't really be talking about it."

Well, technically, Ronaldo didn't say that he hoped Ancelotti would stay at Real Madrid. All he said was that he wished to work with Ancelotti next season.

I read some "analysis" that Khedira was actually Ancelotti's top choice after Modric was sidelined by injury, but Ancelotti was under the pressure to freeze him out of the squad. Ancelotti simply didn't trust Illarramendi (president's choice) or Lucas Silva, which is why he opted for Ramos in the midfield but it didn't always work. It is quite sad seeing that Real Madrid lost everything, but really was so close to winning everything. Who knows? Maybe Ancelotti could freely play anyone of his wish, who knows what may happen now?

1. Even if you won, you could be fired for whatever reason (e.g. praising Barcelona :d).
2. Pippo Inzaghi probably would have been fired for 20 times with his performance this season, if he was coaching them.
3. Real Madrid is officially back on my hate list. They were taken off in the past two seasons simply because of Ancelotti.

Dani Alves hits out at Barcelona for showing him ‘lack of respect’

Dani Alves has criticised Barcelona for a lack of respect regarding his contract situation and the 32-year-old said he would decide on his future after the Champions League final on 6 June.

Alves’s contract expires this summer and the defender has been linked with a number of European clubs. The Brazilian could yet sign a new deal with Barça but feels his contribution to the team is not truly valued.

“I may have two feet in the team but I’ve also got one foot, my body and nearly my head out of the club. I would like to stay here but not at any price. Not only in terms of money but in terms of respect. If I’m not show that respect, I’ll go to another club.”

Alves said Barcelona’s interest in retaining his services surfaced only after Fifa’s transfer ban was ratified in January.“I won’t accept that they underestimate what I have given to this club,” he said. “They haven’t given me the value I deserve.”

The right-back suggested he is already thinking about life post-Barcelona. “From 7 June, I’ll announce my future. My intention was not to speak but I haven’t been respected with a lot of silly things. It’s gone too far. I don’t want anybody to influence my decisions. My future only depends on me.”

The timing of Alves’s comments will not help to restore bridges with the club, and is an unwelcome distraction to the team as they prepare for the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao on 30 May and the Champions League final against Juventus.

Alves was unapologetic about the timing. “I have been quiet for too long but they have not shown me any respect. I have a limit and I have reached it.”

I feel that our chance is already gone. This past January window would be the best, considering the allegedly good personal relationship between Florentino Perez and Galliani. Now Khedira is on the market, we won't be able to compete on salary.

Plus, he is not really topping my wish list.

Florentino Perez has axed Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. His ninth victim in 12 years in charge, across two spells. They fell, in different circumstances. Del Bosque, Queiroz, Camacho, García Remón, Luxemburgo, López Caro, Pellegrini and Mourinho. The Los Blancos chief has become an authentic "devourer" of coaches. And all this to win five big titles (2 European Cups, 3 Ligas), compared to the 10 that Barcelona have won (3 UCLs, 7 Ligas). It's not strange, then, for cules to think of Florentino Perez as the best president Barcelona ever had.

Ancelotti, who has only gone a year since winning La Decima for Madrid, has been sunken in the last five months. Madrid, who won 22 games consecutively, had started to be compared in some quarters with the Barcelona of the Guardiola era. Painful now, considering Barcelona have won the league and could complete a historic treble if they win the Copa del Rey final (May 30) and Champions League final (June 6). This comparison with Barcelona hurt the coach's head.

Perez sacked Ancelotti against the desires of the fans and the dressing room. Including Madrid's grand star, Cristiano Ronaldo, who posted a picture of himself beside his boss with a message of support, on Sunday. Ugly from the president, and potentially costly to cross the Portuguese. Perez will now look for his 10th "project" (Benitez? Klopp? Emery?), without having a defined model or route marked out. How haphazard. Like in the worst times Barcelona suffered under Gaspart. Who, funnily enough, Perez said was the best president Madrid ever had. The story, fortunately, has changed.
