It's roughly £14m, so we're talking around 18m in euros. I think we should sell no matter what, take a hit if need be because I extremely worried about the "negative" influence Balotelli could have this season, which could cost us more than losing out a little in the market.

This news is a few days old (on the day that Milan started training) so I am not sure if it has been somewhere in the forum. I am hoping that Inzaghi can turn Balotelli around. It does seem that with the arrival of Inzaghi, we have seen a few players changing their thought/attitude. I can think of Zaccardo (who now wants to stay), Saponara (who now wants to work hard), and hopefully it will be Balotelli next (who should cut all the non-sense and focus on the field).

Inzaghi: Mario Balotelli should be helped by criticism

MILAN — New AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi hopes the criticism Mario Balotelli faced recently will help him grow as a player.

Balotelli was the target of more blame than most players for Italy's first-round elimination from the World Cup, and also had an up-and-down campaign with Milan last season despite leading the club with 14 goals in 30 appearances.

"I spoke with Balotelli after Italy's exit and I told him that the criticism should serve only to strengthen him," Inzaghi said on Thursday at a festive preseason training kickoff event at the club's new downtown headquarters. "I didn't have everything served to me on a silver platter during my career; unfair criticism helped me."

Balotelli has four years left on his contract at Milan but had been linked with a return to the English Premier League — with Arsenal reportedly interested — until Italy's flop in Brazil.

"Balotelli is an asset for Italian football," Inzaghi said, noting that the forward asked for a physical trainer to accompany him during his last week of vacation. "It's my job to get the most worth out of him. He can create the difference for us."

AC Milan vice presidents Adriano Galliani and Barbara Berlusconi also attended the event, with Berlusconi — the daughter of Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi — wearing a red-and-black striped Milan shirt.

The event was surprisingly upbeat considering that Milan finished eighth last season and did not qualify for Europe.

Inzaghi is Milan's third coach this year. Massimiliano Allegri was fired in January and replaced by Clarence Seedorf, who was sacked at the end of the season. Inzaghi was then hired and given a two-year contract.

Like his former teammate Seedorf, Inzaghi has no previous first-team managerial experience. But the Italian has been coaching in the youth sectors at Milan since retiring in 2012, and has achieved impressive results.

Inzaghi had a glittering 11-year playing career as a forward at Milan, winning two Serie A titles — to add to the one he won at Juventus — and two Champions League trophies.

"I'm not concerned about how we play. The most important thing is to recreate Milan's DNA with the right doses of respect and team spirit," Inzaghi said. "When I won I always was part of a real team with real men and a real coach."

I saw those comments, but didn't think too much of them. It's very hard for him to say anything too "awkward" as long as Balotelli looks set to stay, so I think he's just stuck to saying the usual PR stuff.

That's true. Then again, if Balotelli is for sure to stay, I can only hope that Inzaghi can get the best out of this mess.

I'm with Dev on this. I know that 18mil seems little, and I would've loved to get 30 for him.....but let's face it, nobody will pay that and THERE IS A REASON WHY.

I would love for him to turn it around, but I don't see it happening. So I too am scared of the negative influence he may have on the team. I just want Pippo to be no nonsense. Meaning, IF he asks the forward to press high...and he doesn't...then just don't start him until he does what's asked. PERIOD. It doesn't matter if it's Balotelli or god himself. Follow the team's plan, or gtfo.

Everything until now, points that Balo doesn't do that...which is why I want him out, as that stuff creates unrest in the locker room and bigger problems down the line. I'm tired of saying...."oh maybe now that he's in Milan, the team he supports, he'll change" ; "oh, I hope Allegri can change Ballo" ; "I hope that Seedorf will be able to get the best of Balo and motivate him" ; an now, "I hope Inzaghi can take care of Balo".....WELL, until when are we going to think like this??

Against Renate a couple of days ago, I saw a team in complete harmony on the field. Everyone was running and pressing, everyone knew their role, and everyone TRIED to execute it. Everyone worked together. I know that it's only a stupid friendly game against a Lega-Pro side, but I have never seem a Milan team put in that kind of effort in a friendly before. I hope that it's an indication that there is something good going on at Milanello. I don't want Balotelli to ruin that. And believe me, if he does he shit on the field again...where everyone is trying to do their job and is working hard...while he is walking around and arguing with everyone....whatever good is going on in Milanello WILL. Be. Ruined.
Nobody will tolerate that, and I hope Pippo doesn't lose the players' respect by tolerating crap like that.
