Every 12 years, something huge would happen to Italy on World Cup:

1934: champions (HUGE)
1946: WWII (WC suspended, HUGE)
1958: not qualified (the only time that happened to Italy, HUGE)
1970: lost in the final (HUGE)
1982: champions (HUGE)
1994: lost in the final (HUGE)
2006: champions (HUGE)
2018: ??

Lost in the final? champions? not qualified for the second time in the history? WWIII?

My bet is on winning their 5th title, thanks to Rizzoli. The last two times when an Italian referee officiated the WC final, Azzurri would win the WC four years later.

Mark my word, Italy is going to be the world champions in 4 years.

I was thinking of opening a new thread, but this one seems as apt as any. So what did people think of this World Cup?

I will post my thoughts later when I get more time, but I would be interested in seeing opinions of how this tournament went down with you, whether it be teams, tactics, players, coaches or anything that caught your eye or interested you.

To me the World Cup enforced my opinion that isolating a target man continued to be proven the wrong way to go. I don't think there were any real news in formations or tactics with the possible exception of Van Gaal use of Kuyt and others. And even that was situational more than anything else.

Thomas Muller swore at a reporter after the World Cup final when she asked him about not winning the Golden Boot

A jovial atmosphere turned a little bit nasty when one reporter provoked Thomas Muller in the mix zone after the World Cup final.

Stood alongside Bastian Schweinsteiger, the journalist, who was initially ribbed by the Bayern players for not asking her questions in Bavarian, sought to get Muller’s reaction to missing out on not winning the Golden Boot.

Muller scored five goals in Brazil, while Colombia’s James Rodriguez top scored six.

Muller, in a tongue in cheek response in German, barked: “I dont care about that stupid bullshit! We are world champions! You can stick the Golden Boot up your arse!” And then he walked off.

Muller won the award in South Africa, didn't he? This guy baffles me. He rarely stays centrally to be considered an out and out striker, not exactly a creative false nine or a tricky winger, yet he delivers at each of those roles for club and country. Ten goals and six assists in 13 World Cup games and he's just 24.

my oppinion is
the final should be between holland and germany
argentina didnt deserve to be in the final
and messi sucks big time, i dont think he wil get any chance anymore to be in the final of a world cup
next year will be some other country that will win the world cup.
and lots of teams who play a good defensive football this year, they play a counter attacking game, whereas italy didnt want to use that tactics anymore.
