Dida at his best was a great goalkeeper, he made a lot of mistakes in his old age but that shouldn't be a reason to label him one of our worst ever starting 11 players.. That's way way way way way way way too harsh.

I have followed Milan for 25 years, and I can tell you that in my opinion, Dida is better than every other Milan goalkeeper in this period (including Galli and Rossi). I am very serious.

I understand it can be a matter of personal opinion, so I will leave it here. If anyone else wishes to jump in and take side, feel free to do so. I am curious what other people think.

Dida was very good for some years (2-3 years - he also had a very good defence in front of him) and suddenly became a joke, like someone mentionned, after the incident against Inter. He became one of the worst GK ever then, able to make the best saves in the world and concede the most stupid goal a minute after.

His drop of form coincided with our bad results in Serie A under Ancelotti. Each time he was on the pitch, I was afraid when the opponents had the ball. Worst, when Abbiati was given to Juventus to replace Buffon (because Buffon was injured after a challenge with one of our players during the pre-season friendly game if I remember correctly), it was obvious Abbiati was better at that time and allowed Juventus to win points, when Dida made us lose some !!

Personally, I thought Dida was great for Milan, but ultimately was kept on for too long and this meant his history was tarnished. However, between 2002 and 2005, I think he was up there with Buffon as the best in the world.

I do agree. His sudden dip in form in 2005 was saddening, and since then, he should have been kept (in my opinion) but as second choice.
