Summer Mercato 2011

Now I'm hearing some interesting rumours about Ganso. That we will make Corinthians buy him for us at 30 million, since the release clause for Brazilian teams is lower, and then take him from them in 2012. This could however just be a decoy. Showing Santos that either you give him to us at a reasonable price or we will make sure you "just" get 30 million for him. Other than that it looks like we will be aiming at M'Vila, Nainggolan, Isla and Montolivo. (http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Calciomerc...6609.shtml)

Very good news we are aiming at reinforcing the midfield, after having fixed the defense with minimal expense (well, aside from giving Mexes 4.5 mil)
This is for all the members not dedicated to you Gio Big Grin

Why some of you ar bothered that Mexes will earn 4.5 mil a year.

1st scenario
Currently he earns 2.9 mil. We offer him 1.5 mil more than he earns at a lower level team atm. If he gets 4 years contract that means we have given him 6 mil more than he "really deserves " .

2nd scenario
If you were to buy him from Roma I am quite sure you will not be getting him less than 12 mil minimum with 3.3 mil salary.

So I don`t see why would I get bothered with the fact that Mexes earns 4.5 mil per annum when you get the best alternative in the league as a substitute.

Plus don`t forget that he the risks his first team status in the French NT by coming to Milan and accepting a bench role.

Essien I think would be brought to replace Gattuso in our lineup if he was brought. As great as Rino is, physically he's declined and still offers little going forward, while Essien is a better all round player and physically in his prime (well, aside from injuries). Personally, I would have loved him after he left Lyon, and my feeling hasn't changed.

About Mexes and this 4.5m. I'm really not that fussed, as we're not paying any transfer fee for him. Kastriot put it very well about how we're spending on him and the effect it has elsewhere in the squad.

"Braida met with the sporting director of Werder Bremen earlier today. According to reports, they talked about Marko Marin and Dídac Vilà."

By the way, you think it's funny that i am not even convinced that a player by the name of Didac Vila really EXISTS?
As I see it, a 4.5 M salary for Mexes is excessive. This is especially the case when we consider he is a bench player. Nesta's joke to Galliani is known by all, but think of someone like Thiago Silva. He is the most important player on the team imho and he is just getting 2.5 M today. Why shouldn't he ask for 6 M?

Let's consider the alternatives. We need a player who is capable of replacing Nesta (almost in rotation). As far as I know, there aren't many players at that level. Mexes is probably one of the only realistic targets. Now, while there might be alternatives to Mexes, we have consider the fact that they would probably cost some 10-15 M to secure, at least. And players of that calibre would probably not accept salaries below 3 M.

So, as Kastriot pointed out, we are spending 6 M too much for him. But we wouldn't be able to get a player of his calibre for such a low sum. All in all, therefore, we might still be saving money by overpaying him. I would be much more willing to accept this if he just took 3.5-4 M for his salary, but okay.

Still I am somewhat irritated by the fact we are paying 4.5 M a year for a player who isn't all that good. But as I have argued above, there isn't really an option is there?
Someone know this Marin?

Marin is a good player, certainly has some potential. He's an attacking midfielder, can play RW, LW and AMC. I would be happy if we buy him.

Well, maybe Milan will just get Astori back and let Mexes goes to another team. Personally, I don't think Mexes can command the 4.5 mil salary anymore due to his injury. What might happens is performance bonus given to him, if he plays certain numbers of games, winning CL, league....

This Essien,Hernanes and Ganso thing is really the only bright spot to my week sofar. I just hope it is true.

Not convincing enough. I think I've seen this guy as an extra in Lost. The one that John Locke outsmarted.
On the Tiago Silva and how much he earns in Milan...i think that in Milan they have prepared a contract for him long ago. he will not be getting 2.5 mil per annum. I am sure that the 4.5 mil that Nesta has earned until now will go to T.S and deservingly so.
