Wigan won the FA Cup in their first ever appearance in the final. Their 91st minute goal left Manchester City little time to recover. :d

Wigan may still be relegated.

That's one hell of achievement. Wigan lost their last seven matches against City without even scoring one. And mind you, it's not that they parked the bus or something. Martinez' teams always play passing-football and although City looked lethargic last night, Wigan thoroughly deserved the result.

I started watching after 60'. The game was so boring that I was looking forward to the penalty shootout, but Wigan ruined it for me. I didn't mind by the way. :d

Wigan was the better side for those half an hour; they actually had two chances for a penalty (though both were quite soft); with a crazy referee, that might happen.

Official, Mancini is fired. Expected

Nobody will feel sorry for him. In summer of 2011 Mancini spent £53.6M (as per Telegraph) on new transfers, won the league but failed to qualify from UCL group phase. Last summer again he spent around £50M (this time according Football365) on new transfers. Again they failed at the first hurdle in Europe, this time without even winning a single game, lost the FA Cup Final against a relegation contender, and lost their title by considerable points to United.

Hardly a surprise that Mancini got sacked, he's failed in every target this year. He barely gave United a challenge in the league, he went out in CL too early and he lost the final of the FA Cup when his team were facing relegation battlers and it was their last hope of silverware.

I'm curious to see where he goes next. Personally, I think he's still got everything to prove as a coach, as until now his success came with some major influencing factors. At Inter, he dominated Serie A in quite possibly its least competitive era ever and at City he had unlimited funds, whereas the key competitors faced their own problems, like United not being a financial powerhouse, Chelsea struggling to regain stability post Mourinho and Arsenal, Liverpool and other traditional challengers not really being up to par.

In his shoes, I'd maybe consider a smaller job where he's allowed to build a project, though tbh given he had essentially unlimited funds at City and still moaned about lack of signings, I'm not convinced he's even capable of taking on this sort of challenge.

Wenger has been missing his objectives for years now and still isn't sacked!

But on a more serious note, it was expected that Mancini will be gone. The problem with Mancini is that even though he's been there for 3 years he still hasn't established a style of play. It's all very individualistic. His teams don't have a characteristic and you never know what you'll see from day to day.

Mancini is likely going to Inter. Remains to be seen though.
