I certainly see how Robben, Farfan or Others like them can add to the squad, problem is that how do you play all of them with guys like Ibra, Pato, Binho and Cassano.

Lastly, thanks for putting Sacchi and me in the same sentence. Also, stop basing your opinions about Ibra on a few games, as it is like saying Sheva was not needed when Pippo and JDT were scoring during most of the 02-03 season. Look back at how much Pippo were scoring without Sheva in that year, actually just look at the Bayern and Deportivo games in the group stage of CL.

@ Farfan...

i mean you can play an unbalanced 4-4-2 w/ boateng, pirlo, DM, farfan.

don't put ibra and sheva in the same sentence. One wore inter/jube jerseys and is a general merc. Other is a milan legend. One is one of greatest UCL players of all time. One is too slow on the ball/too static to play in the UCL. One disposed the other and led to my all time favorite milan goal Smile

You can't deny. It's horrible business for milan to pay 9-12 mil a year in wages (doubled) + a 24 million euro transfer fee for a player who will be 30 next year? Cmon now....

And he limits us tactically. If you can't see it, then I don't know what to tell you. Like Ronaldinho, you have to play a him-centric system. And those always cost you in UCL. I want my milan to be a team of 11 working for each other, not a team of 10 working for one like with ronaldinho or ibra.
First of all Ibra is being pay at 9mil, And 24 mil euro for someone like Ibra is a steal. Or would you rather pay Torres 50mil instead, since he is only 26, or 38 mil for Dzeko who is 25. For your info, Milan paid 28mil for Rui Costa 29 at that time, with his wage at about 7 mil a season 9 years ago, that would be bad business too. But didnt Rui Costa despite never reaching his heights at Viola in Milan helped Milan to win a CL, a league title and a Coppa.

Once agin, you can't deny that you are basing your points on a few games and according to your logic, Sheva was not needed during the 02-03 season, as Pippo scored more goals without Sheva based on the Bayern and Deportivo games in CL.

It's funny how you kept mentioning the Inter and Samp games, while failed to mention the Coppa game with Palermo, where Ibra was the dominate force with 2 of the slowest midfielders playing behind him. Yet he still scored and assisted while making thing easy for the rest of the team.
i'd like to see Farfan at milan, hes a complete player. he's not the best at everything, but hes good at everything. hes fast, good shot, good accurate and good passing/crossing hes a very complete player. in my opinion if he comes he would become a fan favorite because of consistency . also he's given schalke a big boost in the CL this year so keep that in mind he might do the same for us if he comes. Anyhow, if we plan on wing play we've been linked with numerous options ; ronaldo(count him out), farfan, lennon, bale, robben
Of all those I'd love to see bale or robben, lennon or farfan would be great too.
ronaldo most of all but it definitely won't happen.
Rui was a waste of money too. I love him as a player but it's undeniable it was bad business just like Ronaldinho. Milan need to stop paying big money for players on there decline.

See there are a few major problems with your sheva analogy
1) in 2002 sheva was 26
2) Sheva had already been at milan 3 full seasons before hand and proven his worth to the club

Yes I'm sorry, I value those who serve us longer than merc's and new players.

BTW those two slow midfielders are 2 best passers in serie A. Ibra thrives off there long ball service. Particularly Pirlo. Pirlo was great in area season and developed a great understanding with Ibra. Pretty obvious too, Pirlo loves lofting the long ball and having a target like Ibra makes it easy.

Who would I rather have for that money? No one. I'd rather spend it in midfield or defense. It's not a steal. His wages are high and he's turning 30. I'd rather spend 35 mil on neymar, because his long term potential + lower wages (so fee can be higher and it's essentially same cost) and milan will be able to sell him for a profit to spain or england in future if they want. By the way for that same money, i'v;e been saying all along. WE should have got Suarez. A player on the rise.

Atleast 18 mil for Robinho made sense. He was 26, we're getting his prime and minimum 5 good years.

Say what you want. I won't deny Ibra's qualities, but he also has negative qualities. I'd rather build a team than buy a ego-centric star.
I agree on the Suarez part, we messed up..

I see your point and though i don't agree with you about Ibra, you make a good argument. Still, his number of assists this season (and his work rate maybe) don't exactly reveal a player for whom the other ten work for.

And ronaldinho's number of assists? Zlatan is an infinitely better/more decisive player than Ron, but he still struggles to conssitently be a team player. It's not a Milan thing, it's his whole career. If anything his early period with Milan was his best in terms of that, but he's reverted back to who he is/was.

Just saying for how talented he is, there is a reason he's a perennial UCL disappointment. It's not a lack of talent or ability. It's a lack of desire to play team football. Let's face it when things go bad, Zlatan always reverts to 'me mode'. "I'm going to win the match". "Pass it to me , get out the way". This doesn't work in UCL.

Look at all teams who won it including Milan's 2 under carlo. Well organized/decisive team units not dependent one on.

I mean he walked into barca. All he had to do was replace etoo in one of best teams ever, and ended up hurting them in ucl. Because he wanted ball played into him instead of making movements off ball which is what barca needed (and etoo does)
It is Rui Costa not Rui or Costa. Secondly, if you think Rui Costa is such a waste of money, how about Gila? He was like 24 with a price tag of 28mil and about 5 mil wages. What about RO then. Then you have R99, although his trnasfer fees was 9mil but his wages was about 8 mil. Then there is Dinho, who singlehandedly saved Milan season last year with his passing. People often judge transfer based on how much the player improved the team. Ibra improved Milan a great deal, as well as the players I mentioned except for Gila, that's something you can't deny.

I still don't see why you kept putting other factors in, considering you are still judging Ibra in three games. I guess if that helps you to justify your points then so be it.
If you are going to continue to trash someone, pls come up with better argument than a few games, and stop acting like you have better knowledge of the game than someone like Sacchi or Van Basten, b.c unless you are JM or Pep or Fergie or Lippi or Capello, you are just a
fan who thinks he knows it all.
Barcelona won the league last year and only lost one game in CL, thats to Inter. Where Inter played perfectly, how's that Ibra's fault.
When Ibra was at Juve and Inter, he never had a creative midfield to play behind him.
Also, Pato got 2CL goals in 12 games played, does that make him worst than Ibra in CL.

Pirlo and Seedorf are the slowing midfielders in the game, and they were pure crap in the Palermo
game.

It's easy to say that Neymar and Suarez are worth the money now, Suarez was a big question mark this summer and beside he only scores 2goals in 8games for Pool. Neymar will probably cost more than 35mil unless he plays like crap from now till Dec.

CL stats,
Ibra, 77games, 24 goals,
Pato, 12 games 2 goals
Cassano,34 games, 11 goals
Robinho, 26 games, 5 goals

It seems like Pato got the worst strike rate and yet nobody is mentioning it.
I'm a big Ibra fan inspite his playing style. I think CA Rossonero is mistaking Ibra's selfishness for being the type to enjoy his time on the ball. I mean, it is pretty difficulty to make the complaint of someone being selfish but seeing that they have that many assists.

The major point with Ibra for me, however, is his domestic vs abroad play. Look, if someone is going to be making that kind of money for our team, they need to perform in more than just the league. I mean it's not like they are asked to play Italian Cup games. All he focuses on is Serie A and UCL. To be making the most money on AC Milan then you HAVE to be a better performer in UCL period. We are a large club and we can't ever be satisfied with just one trophy. When you compare our wages to other Serie A teams or other teams in other leagues you had better be competing to be world's best all the time. This is where Ibra time and again fails to live up to his hype.

Thus, if he can't make that difference AND won't take a pay cut then he has got to go. We pay someone that much to change games no matter the situation. Not just for a league in which they are better suited for. The thing is, however, there is NO way we can get rid of him this season. I think with the UEFA financial fair play standards, he can be used as a counterweight next season when they come into effect.

This is Ibra first year in Milan and Milan only managed to score 7 goals in CL, 4 of which were from Ibra and 1 other he assisted. How's that for carrying Milan in CL. Milan must first gets better as a team with better players before pointing the finger as an individual player for not performing.
