This season, despite being benched early, when he's played that role he's making most successful tackles per minute of anyone on Sampdoria. And is on par with Gattuso, Van Bommel and Naingollaan who are best in serie A at this, this season
Considering samp might be going down, we should jump him and groom him to replace those players.
He's not really pirlo, who he gets compared to, though he is a good passer
I really like Poli as a future for our midfield, as he has a lot of unique qualities which could make him a world class holding midfielder. Could you provide the source of those stats?
http://sport.virgilio.it/calcio/serie-a/...=stat.html
poli -1222 minutes, 51 tackles won, every 23.9 minutes
gattuso- 2099 minutes, 115 tackles won, every 18.3 minutes
van bommel- 991 minutes, 40 tackles won every, 24.8 minutes
ambro- 1205 minutes, 56 tackles won, every 21.5 minutes
naingollaan- 2552 minutes, 107 tackles won, every 23.9 minutes
here's some more comparatively:
flamini- 1206 minutes, 23 tackles won
zanetti- 2787 minutes, 94 tackles won
Cambiasso- 2118 minutes, 64 tackles won
melo- 2169 minutes, 68 tackles won
Inler- 2779 minutes, 84 tackles won
Asamoah- 2924 minutes, 64 tackles won
Gargano- 2257 minutes, 80 tackles won, every 28.2 minutes
Paizenza-2279 minutes, 97 tackles won, every 23.5 minutes
Parolo- 2837 minutes, 123 tackles won, every 23.1 minutes
Parolo is leading midfielders in serie A in tackles won, but Gattuso
Virgilio does not update top 20 board until end of season. As you can by last years:
http://sport.virgilio.it/calcio/serie-a/...rasti.html
Conti, Gargano led serie A.
Corriere dello sport also post it, but problem is there board for top in serie A is not updated.
http://www.corrieredellosport.it/live/Se...inti.shtml
At the moment they claim criscito has most tackles won (possible) but when you click on players names you see it is updated (ex: on leader board it says gattuso with 89 but when you click on his name, 115)
All this doesn't surprise me. Allegri wants our midfield to generally play a high tempo and aggressive press for the ball then when it's won push forward. It's a large reason why gattuso is played at RCM, so he can win more balls. It's a reason he won serie A coach of year with cagliari, cause this style isn't generally played to effectiveness in italy. Stylistically he reminds me of a mix of capello/sacchi. Probably closer to capello, though everyone in football steals elements of Sacchi, as he was such an innovator. What I find interesting is the players say he is a mix of ancelotti and capello as a manager. He can joke with his players like Carlo, and engage there thoughts, but he knows exactly when to turn it on and become tough. Pirlo said in an interview he often engages Nesta, Gattuso and Seedorf on tactics and their views.

To me if Hernanes is available, Milan must sign him as he will be a huge upgrade for the midfield and can also put one of MVB or Gattuso on the bench.
Just read a translated article on Sacchi's view. Bascially, he said that Milan as well as many other teams in Serie A play bad football. Clubs owners and presidents should give more time to the Manager/Coach. The importance of TEAM PLAY, aka modern football and not play like defense as a unit and wait for an individual to score a stunner. Lastly, Ibra is not the reason why Milan cannot play a fluid game, rather it is the fact that 5-6 starting players for Milan are often more defensive mind than offensive mind.
sigh. Both you and sacchi are wrong then. Milan have played a very fluid game without ibra. We did v. Inter, we did v. Sampdoria and Brescia (Though we couldn't score for life of ourselves v. Brescia, that's not something ibra would have solved, that's something pippo or pato would).
We've played this midfield and got fluidity. And our CBs our technically superior to most teams CMs. To play a more fluid system milan do need to add atleast 1 more technical CM (like hernanes or sahin would be). But without ibra we are more fluid. Everyone plays more one touch and go football. Ibra is of course capable of this, but he RARELY does it. He wants time on ball. Not unlike Ronaldinho
Quote:All these potential winger/second striker rumors must really mean goodbye to Cassano.
I doubt it. Cassano is buddies with a lot of milan senators who will stay. So he'll get opportunities. More than that, he cost nothing, he has little re-sale value, and his wages are low. He's a value to the bench.
Won more than a few games. Despite being questionable fit and not starting often I think he has 8 assists for milan.
Plus allegri loves him. If he regained fitness comparative to roma days he'd displace robinho
About Farfan. Allegri's midfield is a lot less based on specific positions and more on characteristics/movement. He played Cossu, a career RW at CAM. He's playing Boateng (a CM) at CAM. I could easily see a midfield of farfan, pirlo, boateng, van bommel for ex. (sub in future names for pirlo and van bommel but concept is there... a passer and a pure dm).
Farfan would give us more tactical options. But ultimately i don't think we'd switch to a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.... Allegri likes his version of 4-4-2 and it's been effective
