Pato's situation is complicated. I think there are two motivations for this transfer. One is to try and get his fitness back, as he needs to play. At Milan he's always been essentially an automatic starter when fit, but the problem is he's not been fit for more than a couple of matches at a time in recent years. At Milan, we've clearly struggled to get to the bottom of the problems and it is often regarded that Brazil is quite ahead of most of Europe in terms of physical therapy.
The second motivation has to be he's desperate to get into the world cup squad for 2014. In Brazil if he can play more then his chances will naturally increase. More important he's away from the pressures at Milan, whether they be professional, physical (we place a lot of emphasis on muscle development) and psychological, hopefully helping his chances to return to being who he was.
There are doubts about his maturity and work rate, with maturity being a clear issue. I hope he does grow up a little back in Brazil, for himself more than anyone.
Finally, Berlu's said we will have him return in 2-3 years. I expect there's a buy back/first option clause in this deal and I can see this actually happening with Pato for a few reasons. Most obvious is he's with Barbara, meaning he's got a personal attachment to return to the club. Another is Berlu clearly appreciates his talent. Having made numerous decisions to stick with him over the years when we could have sold him for huge sums shows Berlu wants him to make his mark at Milan. If Berlu wants him back that much, there's a chance we'll see him return. Another reason is we made a huge investment in him all this time, we would clearly not rule out him returning to play for us during his peak (hopefully). Finally, it's evident that Pato doesn't have the best relationship with Allegri. Allegri's definitely looking likely to stay until the end of this season and I wouldn't be surprised if that increases to the end of his contract in 2014. After that, it seems unlikely Allegri will be our coach, meaning should Pato return, it would most likely be with a new coach in charge.
Either way, I wish him all the best. Should our paths cross again in the future, he will have my support.

Looks like his problems haven't stopped. It's such a shame that a player of his potential could end up being half the player he could have been because of stupid injuries. I still support Pato, so all the best to him and I hope he gets over his injuries and one day returns to Milan as the great player we presumed he would be.
I thought I heard Corinthians' team doctors said they had full confidence that Pato would remain injury-free (or something to that effect)? It is such a shame to hear that he continues on this unfortunate track, but I wish him good luck in his pursuit. This kid has enormous talents, and in a way he is a perfectionist, and easily gets frustrated when things don't get his way. He still has a long way to go in order to score big success, for one, he has to work on his mental strength.
