Quote:Sulking Ibrahimovic puts Chelsea and City on alert after striker fails to turn up for training at PSG following row over parking

Paris Saint-Germain’s enigmatic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was absent from training yesterday.

With PSG set to face table-topping Lyon on Sunday evening, supporters will undoubtedly have been concerned to see their maverick forward missing from the team’s collective training session at Camp des Loges yesterday morning.

And his absence from the group training session may also have been a point of concern for the Club’s President Nasser Al-Khelafi, who was in attendance observing the team’s preparations ahead of Sunday’s crucial game.

A club spokesman told French paper L'Equipe that Ibrahimovic was following an adapted, personal regime and doing his own work in the gym.

Although there may not be any evident breakdown of the relationship between Ibrahimovic and PSG, relations have shown signs of deterioration in recent weeks.

According to reports in France, the pony-tailed star was left enraged last month by PSG staff after he was refused permission to park in the club’s car park which is reserved for technical staff.

Ibrahimovic, who is famous for his ‘unique’ personality, wanted to leave his car in the area reserved for staff as it is located nearer to the club’s training ground than the car park dedicated to the players.

As a response to the refusal by the on-duty car-park wardens, the Swede instead decided to park his car at the entrance to the technical staff car park, therefore blocking all other vehicles from entering and leaving the complex.

Although Ibrahimovic only joined big-spending PSG from AC Milan in the summer, certain English clubs may be intrigued by the latest developments in the on-going soap opera that is the career of the mercurial Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic has played for some of Europe’s top clubs - including Ajax, both Milan clubs and Juventus - but there has always been the impression that the Swede has never really seemed settled, and has failed to stay at any one club for longer than three seasons.

The forward, who has won nine league titles in his career at various clubs, was even unable to settle at Barcelona, famously complaining – “I was a Ferrari being driven like a Fiat” – making reference to the way that the Catalan giants failed to build their team around him.

Chelsea are believed to be doing everything possible to secure Atletico Madrid striker Falcao in the January transfer window, but Roman Abramovich may be interested in pursuing Ibrahimovic should his attempts to secure Falcao falter.

Elsewhere, with Manchester City’s forward line struggling for goals, and with doubts surrounding the future of Mario Balotelli, City boss manager Roberto Mancini – who Ibrahimovic played under at Inter Milan - may be tempted to enter the market to bring in an extra slice of star quality as his side attempt to defend their Premier League title.

Ibrahimovic has 17 goals to his name already this season, making him the leading goalscorer in Ligue 1.

Quote:Javier Pastore refused entry to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s parking lot at PSG training ground
By Ryan Bailey

It was only a matter of time until the egomania of the PSG "project" spilled into the parking lot, and that day has now come.

At Paris-Saint-Germain's Camp des Loges training ground, there are two parking lots: one in which players have individually assigned spaces, and another closer to the entrance of the facility reserved for executives and club officials.

Since Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be constrained by any man's predetermined parking arrangements and no one dares to question him, he is allowed to park in the executive lot.

According to several news outlets, Javier Pastore tried to park his €160,000 Audi R8 Spyder in Zlatan's special parking zone on Wednesday, but was promptly denied entry by security staff. Apparently furious, the midfielder performed a U-turn and drove into a gate on his way back to his regular space. Translated from Sportune.fr:

[French newspaper ] L'Equipe said the Argentinean, visibly upset, hit the gate of the Camp des Loges training centre on purpose with the back of his vehicle.

It is not known whether Pastore's R8 is damaged, but his pride certainly took a big dent during the incident.

The French press are also keen to point out that the Argentinean has had his car customized with a black and red color scheme — a fitting combination of hues for a man who recently told an Italian magazine he longs to play for AC Milan.

We should have bought him before Palermo did. He has grown way out of our affordable range. When is his contract expiring? :d
