The fair play rules are worrying for our club because they enforce levels of expenditure based on revenue. That means making direct investments like Berlusconi has in the past are a thing of the past. There may be ways to get around it, but unless we enhance our financial portfolio we will lose out to clubs like Barcelona, Man U, and even Bayern Munich. Not owning our own stadium definitely does us no favours.

Owner's however, will still be allowed to improve the clubs infrastructure on their own accord (I.e stadiums, training facilities etc.), perhaps we'll see a 'Silvio Berlusconi' stadium in the future? He's certainly vain enough to do something like that.

Given the administrative and bureaucratic mess Italy is in, I honestly can't see when we would build a new stadium. I fear that if these rules are enforced strictly, Italy will no longer be among the movers and shakers of European football. Galliani bemoaned this as well.

I agree with you that spending is indecent currently, but our revenue is half of Real Madrid's, meaning that they will spend within their sizable means while we will be left to work with a pittance (comparatively speaking). With no outside cash injections we will not be able to afford big players.

This move also hinders new clubs to make an impact because sugardaddies will not be allowed to pump money in to increase a club's standing. While this inordinate spending results in huge losses, it does generate sponsors that may allow a club to start becoming a commercial success over time, so they can work to compensate for those losses.

Platini has inadvertently--or intentionally, if I'm more cynical--preserved the status quo.

is this tranfer rule coming into play for sure? I think it will have a negative effect on football. i like things just the way they are now there shouldnt be a need for change. with or with out that we still need a new stadium..

Yep, before the 2012-13 season this rule will be in place. Things really need to change, as money in football has become greatly inflated and pretty much every major club are in ridiculous debt, relying on their rich owners to bail them out.

Galliani can bemoan the fact this rule hurts Italian clubs, but in all honesty the Italian game can only blame itself. While English and Spanish clubs built and updated stadiums, marketed their game and made great efforts to raise the profile of their game, Italian football stagnated and never really moved with the times.

I don't know. He looks very good. IIRC Galliani said that 4 Primavera players will be included in the first team next season.

Inflated prices Darren Bent 30 million , Andy Carroll 40 million , alot of City's signings.CR7 at 90 Million was too much Ibra to Barca.There is alot ridiculous transfer's I think English players are mostly overrated not the likes of Rooney Cole Lampard , but people like Rodwell Everton wanting 40 million for a kid that has done nothing , Ganso at a reported 50 million it is all way too much.

The FairPlay rule is a joke and it will never truly be enforce. I really don't see teams like Chelsea, ManCity, Real or any other willing big spender be affected by this rule.

You can say that English players prices are inflated but I think one of the main reasons that it is the case is another stupid rule, 6 + 5 rule. As if UEFA is going to enforce that, you are going to see more inflated local player prices, and it will happen in Italy too.

I think the idea behind Platini reforms are great and honorable, but in today's age, money/revenue will always come first. If he really want financial FairPlay and protection of small leagues.... He should invest more money toward lesser leagues and in top of that promote Europa Cup better and maybe even bringing back Inter-toto cup or something.

Back to transfer, do you guys really believe Ibra will be gone next year and that Milan will replace him with another striker with midfielders?

Personally, I hope he stays as he is too important for Milan to dominate Serie A. Secondly, if he leaves, it is taking a step backward, as I really think Milan needs t rebuild it's midfield and add QUALITY depth.

Slowdorf is a goner and Ambro will probably leave with him.
Pirlo really depends on his demand in wages.

I think Milan will need at least one midfielder to fill the void in LCM or CAM like Ganso or Hernanes or Honda. While have faith in Merkel to fill in here and there. The midfield will be complete if they can add another Boateng.

About Platini and his work ...

The reform of CL and UEFA Cup/Europa League:
- Great idea to open the main competition to more countries ... But actually, that is useless, for moment at least, because these "new" teams don't really improve, the level of the competition is a bit lower (in the group stage at least), and at the end, it's as usually a big team winning the competition.
- The level in Europa League is better than the former UEFA Cup because there are more "big" (or almost) teams. The fact is that the winners of this competition are now average/good teams and the small teams don't have any chance to win this competition again (like in CL, no more surprise).
- CL is for Spain, England, Italy and Germany, Europa League is for Russia, Ukraine, Portugal, should be for France (but it never happens), and some teams from the previous countries. Actually, this reform has changed nothing as it has always been teams of these countries winning both competitions in the modern football.

The result is that it keeps the superiority of these countries over all the other European ones ...

The financial fair-play:
- Great idea (giving all teams the same chances).
- Bad way to do it.

I won't post much about that as a lot has already been said in previous posts, but the result is that it will keep the hierarchy between the clubs depending on their money, and as the current hierarchy is more or less already about money, that will change nothing ... Actually, that will change something: small teams will have less chance to make surprises in the future.

Both reforms mixed: they keep the hierarchy between the countries and reinforce the superiority of the best clubs. Well done Platini !!

Platini is a clown, the wa he acts is absolutely ridiculous... his statemants are not professional, his acting is not professional... I do not even believe Platini is a man who decides anything in that UEFa-mafia thingy... Anyway...

Braida should be in Brasil soon to meet with Santos and conclude Ganso deal. In the last 3 games people say he did ok, and even pretty well. I've also heard he is ot on the old level, but aguess that is normal.

It is interesting to see now how Pirlo, Ambro, Seedorf... They all want to stay in Milan. But Galliani will not pay 4-5 mln for 35 year old players who play 6,7,8 games per year at right level.

Pirlo also had a meeting with MArotta, and I expect him to leave us in the summer, as well as Clarence.

Silvio's jokes in the papers are not important, we all know who Milan functions... Ibra and other players said they are ready for the "new circle" in Milan, so I believe Milan will be stronger next year and ready to play at highest level again.
