The same question can be asked to Berlusconi in early 90s: we already had the world's best squad, but he still went for Savicevic, Boban, Papin, and Lentini. Wink To make it worse, a team can only play 3 foreigners at any game. Imagine the competition.

I was too young back then so I'm only familiar with the broke A.C. Milan Big Grin. I've heard about how Berlu went crazy in the early '90s though..pretty much Abramovich/Man City-esque. What about those FIFA fair play rules though..what difference exactly are those supposed to make?

I was used to Berlusconi spending like crazy. It is awful feeling - rich to poor is so much worse than always remaining poor - you are so lucky for that reason. Big Grin

Yes, today's Man City kinda resembles that. Except with Berlusconi who actually knows about football, it was instant success for us. I am sure that many other teams and their fans hated us too (or at least were very jealous). Good thing we didn't have Internet back then, otherwise I really don't think I can handle all the cyber-hatred. Grinundwech

Just finished watching the second half between Valencia and Real Madrid. The game was full of malicious fouls and unsportsmanlike diving and whining.

In the last minute (95th minute), Valencia hit the bar and then Soldado's shot was blocked by Higuain's hand, but the referee decided that he didn't see it. Real Madrid won 3-2.

Real Madrid were held 1-1 in their La Liga opener against Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu. Big Grin Glad to see that Real Madrid already dropped two points. Big Grin

Sadly, I guess that's going to be mostly what I do in the new season, wishing ill of the teams that I hate, rather than wishing Milan to win. Confused

On the other hand, Barcelona just got a really comfortable 5-1 win against Real Sociedad. Messi scored twice, and David Villa one.

I bet that Mourinho has nice yelling to do. Icon_lol2
