Abate ag: Media stopped Zenit move

Ignazio Abate's agent has claimed that his client's move to Zenit St Petersburg didn't happen because of media intrusion.

The 26-year-old Milan defender was on the verge of a move to the Russian club, as was reported widely during January.

But the full-back's representative has revealed that the deal could have gone through were it not for the Press.

“I think the fact that the move was leaked probably stopped it,” Andrea D'Amico told Calciomercato.

“In football, news should only be spread only when a deal is actually completed.”

No information on salary isn't mentioned anywhere. Past rumor (from several weeks ago) seemed to suggest that he would get a raise from his current 1.8M to 2.5M a year.
