He is leaning towards staying for another year according to @86_longo but will do some medical tests on his left knee to see if he needs surgery.

The last part is pretty vague but I guess he will try to continue.

I don't have a problem with it tbh. In the past, he would have demanded to be on the field at all times and that'd be a little worrisome because stuff like that always creates tension. Like when he first came and told Pioli after being substituted: "don't take me out again...next time take out Calabria".
These days, he seems to be very reasonable with that and he seems to underastand what it is he can give to the team and for how long.

If he can't play consistently in actual games then should retire. Relying on Giroud and Ibra again is a disaster waiting to happen.

I agree with that. I don't think we should rely on him and should definitely sign a striker. But if it goes along with the budget and if he continues, than it wouldn't be such a bad thing. I do agree that we should only employ players that can actually play.

I'm fine with Zlatan staying as long as we get another striker.

Colombo and Lazetic will be loaned, Origi will cover anywhere up front. So we still need Scamacca or whoever to build and take over from Zlatan and Olivier.
