Well not so fast. The win against Roma today can give us a big push.

But I agree with Reza. It was unreasonable to expect that form to continue. Even though, for me, it wasn't so much the dropped points....but it was the performances. It could happen thst we lose a game. It could happen that we drop form. But against Spezia, Inter and then both games vs Crvena Zvezda, we looked like a mid-table team.
So today's win gave us affirmation that those matches were just weird and we do actually have quality to be rediscovered.

Still, Inter are favorites. They always were. And they are hitting top gear at just the right moment. We'll see what happens in the next month or so. Imo, we are not out of the Scudetto race....but we are not sure of 4th place either. So the biggest difference between us and Inter at the moment is that they'll 100% finish in the CL spots...while we have work to do still.

If I had to make a prediction now based on what we've seen so far...Inter, Milan and Atalanta will finish top 3. The 4th place is hard to talk about. So much will rest on that Juventus - Napoli makeup game. But that's now. We might be here 2 weeks from now, and not even in the top 4. What a crazy and exciting season.

Lazio as useless as ever. Seldom do they beat anyone above them. Lead Jube away for 40 minutes then conceeded 3. As I posted in the current match thread, I do believe if we don't beat Verona we will slide out of top 3 (Inter, Juve Atalanta) and then hope we do enough to hold off Roma for 4th.

Sidenote: The wheels really fell of Sassuolo. Still, De Zerbi is a good coach and he'll have his moment in the Sun.

Inter will win the title this year, and it's deserved (as much as it pains me to say it). They're rarely spectacular, but they're really solid, and after so many years of this unnatural and unprecedented Juve domination, Serie A really needs a different winner. If we're not winning it, I'd rather Inter get the Scudetto than Juventus winning their 10th in a row. It's so much better for Italian football.
For us it's all about getting to the CL anyway, and right now we have 7 points down to 5th place. That's the most important thing.

I don't want Juventus to win it...and I don't want Inter to win it. Doesn't leave much of a choice I guess. We don't get get what we want.

Having said that, I'd rather only focus on ourselves. The most important part is the CL. And right now, as you said, we have a 7 point cushion. It's the right step for us. CL first, then we keep building, Scudetto contenders next year and then finally can also be a factor in the CL a couple years from now. That's the realistic scenario and it's an attainable goal. Of course, it's always better to win now then later. But we have to focus on the correct path...which is sporting growth but also financial self sustainability.

Speaking of Inter...they went through this same process. It wasn't a straight shot to the top. They first barely made it to the CL. Then slowly got closer to Juventus last year and contended. And now this year they seem to be ready to win the league. I expect them to be a factor in the CL next year and they already were in the EL last year.

Unfortunately, this is the path and the path isn't instant. The one thing we have on Inter is financial stability and I hope we don't steer away from that road. They forgot that part somewhere along the road and are paying a price now. With Elliot though, I don't think there is a chance in hell that we will do the same and I'm really happy with that. The winning and titles will follow.
