Summer mercato 2021

Having not good enough backups is normal, Milan can't yet have the budget for that, don't think it's realistic to expect Maldini to go out in January and spend lots.

I agree. We need to break this vicious cycle of "not making CL -- hurting the revenue -- not getting the quality players -- not making CL" that has been pestering us in the past years.

I think our management is doing a great job, and I don't want to jinx it, but we are getting very close to finally breaking away from this bad pattern. But I doubt that our management expected us to be leading the table for this long, and I am sure that in their best scenario of projection, we would at most be in top 3 after half season.

hahaha good one Big Grin
Look we aren't terrible in terms of depth but we have a few players that oh boy.. when they play it's a different Milan. Meite for example offers absolutely nothing, you're playing a man down and it's exposed especially against top teams like Merda orJuve etc.,

Bennacer has been back for a couple of weeks now and looks nowhere near in form. Not every player recover their conditioning and game rhythm at the same pace. Take a look at the players we have who missed significant time due to injuries or COVID, almost none of them came back and was back to their best within a couple of weeks, so you can't just count on Bennacer regaining his earlier season form next week because it's been three weeks since he came back.

We can't spend a ton of money, sure, but we can spend more than zero. I am not saying we needed to go sign Messi but we certainly should've done better than Meite. And if budget is the issue, as in we just don't have money to spend, then scudetto shouldn't be our goal period.

To be fair. Top 4 is our goal. that's been said by the club multiple times. We're only reaching because we were exceeding expectation.
Our goal should be to play the best football we can. Whatever we achieve, that’s it.

However, being disrespectful towards small clubs, playing for a contract and then just collecting the salary, and forgetting about teamwork, should not be our goal.

We’ve seen a lot of it in the past few years. Pioli got the things under control, kudos to him. Now we should not return to the old ways, but to continue with the older. Let’s this game with Zvezda be the story we tell in the years to come.
Manchester United planning swoop for Gianluigi Donnarumma. While Bayern München, PSG and Juventus are interested in their goalkeeper David De Gea.

Those guys are dumb with money.

Sell Gigio for 100m...
Buy Cragno for 25-30m.
Belotti for 30m
then have left over to sure up other positions.

Donnarumma = €0.
You know I love Maldini and it pains me to criticize him one bit, but I really think this winter mercato was a bit of a handicap for us. We're running for the scudetto and we sign
1) Meite, a player incapable of even starting for Torino
2) Mandzukic, while the name sounds great on paper it's so noticeable he hasn't played real futbol in a year
3) Tomori seemed like a great addition but why is he on the bench whenever we clearly need him!?

Maybe it was a question of finances, but I don't know. I feel like we could've somehow done more knowing we were winter champs.

Again, I feel bad pointing fingers. In fairness I rated our mercato as good before we fell apart last few games. It's easy to talk after the fact, it's just disappointing.
I would start getting rid of Raiola agents slowly... Except Ibrahimovic... To have peace in the house. Cragno is a great keeper too, don't know why we just don't get him and sell Donnaruma. We wouldn't loose much. Someone like Belotti is a must should we qualify for a place in the champions.
