Don't really feel anything for any of the players. I respect Buffon and consider him the greatest keeper of all time, but I don't particularly feel sorry for him.

I'm mostly just baffled at Ventura. The decision to suddenly include Jorginho in the most important match in his tenure after years of completely ignoring him is nonsensical.

Not using Insigne doesn't make any sense (when Bernadeschi came on I had to double check Insigne was on the bench). I don't get it, Insigne is Italy's most naturally gifted player and possibly most in form. If anyone is going to provide the necessary spark, it's him. Yet, in two legs he had 15 minutes on the pitch in midfield?

Ventura said he was looking to attack down the wings (I think he said it was his plan a and b and that's it). Attacking the wings against closed teams is fine, but lofting crosses from deep against a Sweden side whose biggest strength is their physical size and strength doesn't work. They had to work to get to the byline and drill low balls central, they only did it a few times.

I don't know, I could keep going on, but really my issue is Ventura's just done a crap job. I've said it many times, I like the guy and liked his Torino sides, but this was just poor.

Ventura is a coaching disaster the likes of whom we haven't seen for a while. Baffling decisions.

I am pretty pissed at this. Now there is no reason for me to watch the World Cup. And considering I refuse to watch the Qatar World Cup (the Slavery World Cup) coz of the way workers are treated there it looks like I will be watching the 2026 World Cup only.
