He is not a DM, and at this age,- neither is Gattuso. Devilol

He started as a DM, IIRC.

I think he still can play there. A big player (1m86) who can tackle, distribute the ball and shoot from long range is the description of Van Bommel. Aquilani lacks only leadership mentality of him.
Kaká is getting closer?

What is your definition of a DM flame? Bc to me, the modern game DM is someone who plays great position defense in front of the defense and presses well. If he can pass or shoot, it will be a bonus. One dimensional player like Gattuso will not make it to a top team any more, you look at Flamini and Lass, not now but when they were on form, they joins in attack, run lines to draw defenders and make a pass here and there. Then there is Xabi Alonso and De Rossi. To me, if Aqua can just forget about being a creative mid, b.c he really ain't that creative and not someone who can beat people with dribbling, and concentrate on positional defense, he will be a very solid DM barring injuries.

Kaka returns will be big, I will be the first to buy his new jersey.
Yeah. Two of the best DMs nowadays are Busquet and Kherida. Both are not better than Aqua in term of physical & technical abilities. Their most outstanding quality is the tactical discipline.

That and the ability to retain possession. I think it's getting nowadays that the typical tough tackling defensive midfielder in front of the defence is getting less common. If you have a player in front of the back 3 or 4 who can keep the ball, pick the right pass and has the tactical discipline to contribute both offensively and defensively you have a modern day DM. Add in some physical attributes like speed, height and strength then you have a beast of a player.
Flamini out until Feb/march gattusso out of CL group stage for 4 games..Boateng off for a month to the African nations cup in January , 80% of our midfield is 34 or over..and galli appears to be sitting on his hands , but in fairness he has an empty wallet to bargain with .

2 midfielders are needed NOW!! and Kaka shouldn't be one of them.
We need to Phase out the old players doing that as in getting another 2 and one next summer , will allow us to cut 3 of Rino/Ambro / V.Bommel/Seedorf maybe all .

Next summer it will 5 years since we all realized this phasing out old players should of started.
i would prefer hulk or balotelli and lass. kaka already had his time here, we need to move on, no point in spending money on a has been player, he is always injured, and even if he was to stay healthy this season, how many good season do you think he would have left in him. i would prefer to see gourcuff come back before kaka.

I would only take kaka if they were to package him with lass for dirt cheap like 20mil for both, and may throw in pedro lean on loan with option to sign
Really don't understand why some of you still want another attacker in Milan, they have enough of that already. Unless Cassano leaves in Jan and Pato is sold to Chelsea or something, there is no need for another attacker in Milan. Offensive midfielders are who they need, or two way midfielders.

As for DM, well, your opponent can't score if they don't have the ball, I thunk that's why players like Gattuso just won't cut it anymore.

the hulk is good enough to play attacking midfield
