Taiwo is a solid player and is much better than the ones Milan currently have. He is not a super star LB nor is he a late boomer waiting to explode with the proper team. Take it for who he really is, a solid player with great physical attributes. Put it this way, if he is on the level of Macion(prior to last season), Conteano, D. Alves, Marcelo, Evra, Ramos, or even Bale, Milan probably won't get to sign him as a free transfer with a wages of 2 mil a year.

I don't understand the criticism of Taiwo vs Robben. Robben is possibly the best right winger in football today and he did very little against Taiwo. On top of this, as I said in the preseason thread Taiwo was fairly intelligent in his marking as he never let Robben cut in onto his left foot, generally forcing him onto his weaker right.

I was very judgemental of Allegri after first 2 months of him playing 4-3-3 w Ronaldinho. Turns out he did a LOT better. However, his job is not done, he needs to prove he's an excellent coach for many seasons (like Ancelotti, Capello, Mourinho, etc.)

The same goes for Taye Taiwo. I will not judge him after 1 preseason game. That's ridiculous. Let's judge him at Christmas break. He doesn't even speak italian yet for g0d sake. I'm sure he'll do fine. There are only a few WC FB's at the moment, perhaps he can be a new one, or not. For sure he'll be better than Antonini that didn't have a left foot and can't shoot or pass.

That's right, too early to judge a player. He is still adapting with Milan, Italy and co. If he is only an improvement from our recent fullbacks, I am already satisfied since we kept 0 euro to improve our left fullback even not a great one. We should be clever in buying or getting players since we are not we were in late 80s and in 90s. Getting someone free and improve our squad is still something positive for Milan.

Personally, I think he did a pretty good job on Robben that game and if he can maintain that level throughout the season, he will make anyone's grade. To me, FB is a position where a team really does not need a WC player or a superstar, it is a position where a good solid back is enough for the team to challenge. Pancaro was a great example.

I agree with you. Solid fullback is the requirement especially with Milan who do rely on solid defense. This what we need most from our fullback particularly in Champions League play off round where 1 goal could be very decisive.

Taiwo wasn't terrible against Robben, that's ridiculous. For the definition of terrible, try to remember some games of Antonini from last season again weaker opponents.

Robben didn't create anything useful for his team at the expense of Taiwo. +Robben makes successful dribbles against any top defenders. (Barca, Inter, ManU - Robben owned them all.)

So, please, be realistic and chill the hell down.

he also had no cover or help by the medfield,robben got the ball always on bayern's attack pretty easily and always had only taiwo to face on one on one,rare thing on modern football..taiwo did fine

on the fabregas thing i cant see him coming, i am not sure if he wants to leave arsenal for any other club than barca, also how can we afford him and barca cant, it is said they're offering 40 mil,how much are we supposed to give to overcome it?

and even if he came,i would hate if after a couple of years he started the same behavour wanting barca, it is like its written that he will some day play for them, sth like balotelli for us..

If Cesc comes this summer and Spain win in Euro 2012, he will put on a Barca jersey during their parade and we all will be like, sell him as Milan does not need players who does not want to be a Milan player.

As for horrible defensive display, to say Taiwo did horrible against Robben, then which word would u use to describe Bonera, Gouch, and Kala defending?
