I don't think we disagree that much, I think Montolivo's talent is often ignored because he rarely really dominates matches (although I doubt you agree here). However, I don't think him coming would mean Allegri can use him to elevate our team level, but he could be a useful option coming off the bench. Merkel on the other hand needs to play to grow into a potential star.
Montolivo for only 5.5 million is not a bad deal at all.

paloschi+5,5 for montolivo is like stealing from them,seriously i dont think theres any truth on that report..Fio rate montolivo really high,he is more than just their captain,thats why their board said he totally betraid them and the fans by requesting transfer. and if i m not wrong an agent said they refused 6+cassano for him, if that is true then paloschi offer is media bull*t.
i am almost sure well get him,what seems awkward is that no other team seems interested in him right now if i am not wrong,its like they know he s ours..
i just hope he is not the real thing of this mercato,and that is why we're trying to pull off a cheap deal.
i also dont belive anything zamparini says about 45-50 for pastore, i am confident he will eventually be ok with 25-30.

He is on the last year of his contract and clearly wants to leave. They can either sell him for up to 10 mil this summer, or have him leave for free next year.

although i didnt know he was on his last year of contract, i thought so seeing these offers.
but again they may prefer keeping him one more year and trouble him for his behavour and give a warning to other players wanting sth like that.(requesting transfer on your last year of contract leaves no real choice to anyone..).dont forget he is not a common player for viola.

it seems Hamsik stayed at Napoli. Bayern is enough strong to keep Basti. Fabregas will go to Barcelona if Arsenal sells him. Tottenham wants to keep Bale, though he is not ideal mezz'ala for us. Montolivo is not a mezz'ala. he is not a big name signings. this all make me think that we will sign Pastore because he is on the market.
Milan wants a trequartista, linked strongly with Ganso.
Regarding mezz'ala, i think that Asamoah is the ideal player for there, if we sign Pastore. He is box to box, better alternative for there than Montolivo.
Fiorentina rates Montolivo at 10 m euros and reports says that Corvino wants 10 m euros cash for him. 5.5 m euros plus Paloschi's co-ownership. i dont want Paloschi to go there, as they play with 1 striker and its Gilardino. Paloschi needs to play regularly, if he sits on the bench, i'd rather to see him at the bench of Milan and training with world class players.

With Galliani we can never know for sure, as we can snatch up Fabregas after their negotiations with Barca fall apart. Crazy, but possible with Galliani. Among all the crazy transfer prices we are hearing this summer, Fabregas is the only one that is worth every cent.
The most realistic scenario is probably a smaller player now (Montolivo) and Ganso in January. Like I said, if there's ANY possibility I would get Schweini / Fabregas.
Otherwise, I would be willing to gamble with Montolivo, since he is at least Italian.
