To be fair though, Roma had two poor seasons after the American takeover (finishing 7th and 6th), which was as bad as the last Sensi season (also 6th), and of course a lot worse than the years before that when Roma were usually second, admittedly in a weaker Serie A.

What I mean is selling the club is far from a guarantee - Roma have had a new manager in each of their seasons under the new owners, two of which have been failures and only Garcia looks like the real deal (at least seven games into the season). The other two were either poor choices or weren't given the proper backing by the club.

Selling to some Russian or Arab super-billionaire who's willing to spend endless money would probably have to eventually translate into succes, but I don't think Italy can attract those. We have to settle for the "second-rate" billionaires, which means we won't be able to just spend mindlessly like Chelsea, City, Anzhi, PSG, and Monaco, but have to be a bit more carefull investing in new players, managers etc.

I don't think any or many fans will object to "second rate" ones. In fact many, including me, won't want endless spending at all. Consistent spending that , addresses needs, puts the team on a plan and upward path. Consistent is far different from excessive or endless, it means getting that 20 million player when another player leaves or is near retirement. If we need a Hernanes we bargain and push until we get him, not fill the media with stupid statements and sign a useless player instead two months later.

Watching the two penalties in Fio-Juve game makes me think that while bad refereeing evens out at the end of the season, the referees in Italy seem to take it up a notch by making bad decision to make up for his bad decision in the same match.

Holy crap what a game. Fiorentina was completely out of it and Juve were just squandering chance after chance at 2-0. Now the Viola are up 4-2..lolz
