Summer Mercato 2011

This wasn't bad mercato after all. We've tackled all of our weak spots on one way or another.
Good backup center back was required as we had none reliable (and Nesta was fragile), so we took one. Left back was our weak spot for years (it's a bit a nonsense we didn't have a left footed player in our starting 11 at all), so we brought one. Seedorf was too old to be in form for the whole season, so we brought a midfielder to replace him. Furthermore, mercato isn't finished yet, there's a time to bring in another player.

Talking about players that arrived, I'm a bit disappointed how we're bashing them already. Let's talk about them...

I can't say much about Taiwo, all I know is he's a beast and he has a hell of left foot. At least he has an x factor.

As for Mexes and Aquilani... I can't believe how some people here bash both of them like we're talking about player who'd not played in Serie A for years.

Talking about Mexes like "average" or "solid backup", it's ridiculous. Since his first days in Roma, Mexes was/is a world-class talent. If it wasn't for lapses in concentration and frequent lost of nerves Mexes would be among CB elite right now. He was great with Spaletti, he developed even more since that, all he need is a right guidance. If Allegri could treat Mexes the way Spaletti treated him, he could be great for us. He could even replace Nesta.

Aquliani was fantastic midfielder when he was in Roma. Mark my words, fantastic! I still remember Real Mardid - Roma showdowns in CL (I don't remember the year though), Aquilani was the best player on the pitch in those matches. De Rossi and him were most talented CM pair our there. Then, frequent injuries came and ruined him. Roma decided to sell him because they were in crisis and they needed money. And Aquilani was their most expensive player at time, bar Totti.
Liverpool wasn't the club for him, as simple as that. A team (bar Gerrard) with lack of ANY player who could play the ball, possession play which Aquilani was accustomed to since his Roma days. Then in Juve he wasn't bad at all and he played out of place. Aquilani is dangerous when he's closer to opponent goal, where his creativity and venomous right foot are exploited. He's not a deep-lying playmaker ordered to sit back like he was in Juventus.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we are buying a world-beater for 6M, I'm just saying that the guy has a talent in abundance and if he is able to stay fit he could be great. Mind you that we bought Seedorf 8 years ago who was a reject at Inter and he was brilliant for us (still is) and he was nowhere as great before us.

If you want may opinion, we're not CL contenders like this but we're not bad at all. If I was Galliani, I would sell Robinho and get us a proper midfielder but I know many people here will disagree and after all that's just me.

I agree. Great post. You haven't been very active on the new forum, I personally missed your posts. Good to have you back. Okmilan

This goes to Geo also. Where are you Geo? Smile
mrki too. I miss his critics to management. What a fan he is.

Are we going to sign another Mr. X?
Sure, one day. Smile

Jeff, also one of the old school members. Smile

Now, only Zlatanov needs to come back Smile
I'm always around, just that I have been consumed by work. I do read posts, though, so I'm active Smile.
Now that Flamini is out injured, I think we might just get Montolivo as well.
Somehow, I am highly 10000% confident that having Italy NT's midfielders will greatly benefit all of Milan, Italy NT and the actual players.

OMFG, for the hundredth time !!!! - let the guy play a single minute before jumping to conclusions... !!!!

Many of our stars were other teams' rejects before that. I am sure you know that or should I remind you?

"Arsene Wenger will have a £90m transfer kitty to spend if he wishes as Arsenal prepare for final week of the transfer window"- Goal.com

How unreal is that. The guy has €103 Million to spend in 1 week and he doesn't want to. He never ever spends. It's great that Arsenal are making profits, are not in debt, and are financially responsible. But for a team that never wins anything, has a good base, and tons of cash, they should buy Sneijder, and maybe 2 other players. They can spend 50 or 60 Million and still get 2 or 3 GREAT players. Just not sure what's up with that club.....

Meanwhile, we pretend our Owner will give us Presents but all we have for Christmas is Coal...
.Mister X, Gifts, Champions, Star Player, LCM who will be 6ft1inch.... but then we get Aquilani and again with the crying poverty from Galliani....Very very strange...They should say ZERO players will come in, this way if we get 1 shitty player, at least we'll be happy...

remmber Alex Witsel ...he was killing tonight. we where interested in him 1 month ago. too bad it seems like a great player
Maybe a rough group stage draw tomorrow will scare mgmt into actually opening their wallets. But probably not...

I almost hope we draw Barcelona, Napoli & Manchester City in Group of Death, then see how tough Galliani is then...
