Xu, I believe Luiz was made captain due to his displays during the WC. He's portrayed as a hero among the brazilians supporters. I feel most of them weren't aware of his personality (people who are not used to watch european football mostly), so he kinda turned into a national superstar out of nowhere. I can be wrong though. I do feel he's a good personality for a captain though, just not sure the timing was right.

Same here. I think if Brazil could beat Argentina for the 3rd place, at least it would be a good consolation for its poor fans. My heart aches for them.

Netherlands beating Germany would have been very sweet for the Oranje too, seeing that they lost 74 final, and 90 again in Round of 16 (watched that one ). But it is not going to be easy, and certainly they will have to get past Argentina first.
