Real Madrid were held 1-1 in their La Liga opener against Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu. Glad to see that Real Madrid already dropped two points.

Sadly, I guess that's going to be mostly what I do in the new season, wishing ill of the teams that I hate, rather than wishing Milan to win.

Unless Real beats Barca in one of their games, we can crown Barca as the new champion of La Liga

If Valencia could draw with Real they could beat Barca. They're the 3rd place last year after all (that means, the champion of La Liga outside the big two).

The second leg of Spanish Super Cup, Real Madrid was tearing Barcelona apart. Two goals, one more disallowed (can't see why), could have scored another 5 or 6 easily. Adriano was red carded; Mascherano probably should have got it too; Messi with malicious kick on Pepe. Yet Messi scored a great freekick and Barcelona is now only 1-2 down at the half time.

Very entertaining for a neutral. Looking forward to more goals, cards, and drama in the second half.

I'm watching it now. Mascherano and Pique made blunders that Bonera would be proud of and Madrid went 2-0. One of them was scored by Cristina after a magnificent flick that I practised many times on the street to no avail. Then after being down to ten men, Messi decided to take the matter into his own hands (or feet, if you prefer) and hit a scorching free kick.

What a game. Imagine if our defense gets to meet one of these teams.

No, I don't want to think about it. We are going to get burned. Even Kaka who is not in Mourinho's plan assisted three times in 30 minutes against us, albeit it was a friendly.

No goal in the second half. Still pretty good half, though nowhere close to the first half in my opinion. Real Madrid won the trophy on away goals.

Agreed. Even with ten players Barca could still give a good fight and both teams squandered more than one clear chance to score.

I don't know how a team like Barcelona can be satisfied with such crappy defenders! All four goals that they conceded over the two legs could and probably SHOULD have been avoided. You can really tell that they miss Puyol when he's out..

I don't think they are satisfied; I am sure that they would want players like Thiago Silva too. But great defenders are hard to come by, and any team with ambition would not want to sell to strengthen their competitors.

I don't think they are satisfied; I am sure that they would want players like Thiago Silva too. But great defenders are hard to come by, and any team with ambition would not want to sell to strengthen their competitors.

So that's why we sold Silva to P$G? Because they are not competitor?
