Napoli - Atalanta 4:0 in the first half

Good to see someone do to Atalanta what they normally do to other team's. I never thought it would be Rino's Napoli though. Still, Atalanta will come back a little.

Torino - Cagliari 2:3

Fiorentina has a squad good enough to fight for European qualification. They would do well to get rid of Iachini sooner rather then later. Hopefully not before we play them though.

Giampaolo on the other hand breaking all sorts of records again. Torino with zero points out of 3 and they look hopeless. 4 scored, 8 conceded and they look sloppy, unfit, slow. Very much like Milan did in the beginning of last season.

Same for Torino.  Hopefully they will keep Giampaolo until at least we play them. I want to see the new Milan slapping his face really hard (metaphorically of course), especially players that he didn't think was good enough to play, like Bennacer.

Atalanta lost 3-1 at home. They looked sluggish and tired. The goal they scored was from a PK. And a ridiculous pk at that. I don't understand. There was ZERO contact. VAR intervened and the ref went to look at it. From all angles it was clear that Keita Balde did not make ANY contact with Zapata and Zapata threw himself to the ground holding his stomach in agony. The correct decision would have been a yellow card to Zapata for simulation. Instead, the ref stood by his original decision. Fascinating stuff really. Simply unreal. The ref wanted to give a Pk and nothing was going to change his mind. Not even slow motion video from 5 different angles showing that Keita's foot was actually at least 10cm away from Duvan's body.

But anyway, back to the game...as I said, Atalanta looked tired and sluggish in the final 3rd. The CL may be taking its toll. Normally they are crisp around the goal but today it looked different. Hopefully they'll keep struggling.

Atalanta is such a team which doesn't know a about thing 'Multi-tasking' they have to either choose Europe or the league. Looks they are going all-out for Champions league this seaon. They actually pocketed some 90M+ from last year QF run. Atalanta earned such a sheer amount of money from players sale and UCL but they still bought shits like Mojica(that too on loan), Muratore, Piccini(again on loan) I don't know how much money these idiots wants to save. They have no bloody ambitions at all.

They know it's not sustainable. They are actually being responsible with their money. Can't blame them for that. Long term wise, CL money is considered "variable (and volatile)" income. So for you to go and sign "bigger/better" players you have to re-invest that variable income AND add "fixed" expenses such as big salaries. The moment you miss out on CL, you are screwed because your revenue is now gone, yet your expenses are still there. Yes, all revenue is volatile...but for football clubs where the CL represents probably 3/4 of your revenue such as Atalanta....this could be a big problem if you are not responsible.

CL football is not a given even to big clubs, of course. But at least big clubs have big sponsorship deals, etc...therefore they would be still fine if they missed out on CL for a year or two. Atalanta doesn't have that luxury.
