We've been linked to Zapata, as is Villareal. Negotiations could start at 7 million. I think that is a good deal for a player like him. Not world class but solid with some years to improve. But right now we have too many CBs. Silva, Nesta, Yepes, Mexes, Bonera.

Now getting Zapata would be a waste of money as we don't need more CBs (unless we sell Silva)

Fabregas wants Barcelona move and I think we're foolish to think anything else. This has gone on too long to be a fluke. Fabregas is from Barcelona, and he now feels like he's wasting his career at a team who will never win. AC Milan would be an option if Barcelona didn't want him so bad. My guess is he goes there, and we look for Ganso + LCM (Hamsik, Schweinsteiger, or player of this quality)..... Fabregas was always my preferred choice for the LCM spot, who also has versatility and can play ACM if we wanted. I just don't think he wants it though, and would rather be a Squad player for Barcelona with the possibility to take over Xavi's spot. They also have the option to use Iniesta as a forward, take off Pedro, and put in Cesc.

Zapata's contract will end in 2012, so we could get him now at lower price.
I don't know if the rumor is true, but Zapata & Silva would be a bad-ass CB pair.

Even if Barca didn't want him and Arsenal were willing to sell, there's no way we would have splashed out the kind of money he would command on an open market. A realistic goal that I think would suit Milan perfectly would be Ganso and Asamoah. Or Hamsik and a low wage squad CM. I really can't can't CAN'T see us getting both Hamsik and Ganso - unless we delay the Ganso signing until next year. That's just too much to spend.

Getting Zapata will be great nomatter what. As Milan than can move one of Silva or Mexes to midfield if needed, thus they don't need to sign another DM. Don't forget that Nesta will most likely retire after next season and if Zapata could be obtain for 10mil or under, thats a steal.
schweinsteiger and fabregas are both top class players either one would be a great gift.. I think Zapata would be an okay signing, but arent we settled with CBs yet!? and btw if silva goes to barca which im 90% sure he wont i will go crazy.. No matter what cb out there we buy i doubt he'll equal out to silva, even if we bought luiz when he was available i wouldn't be happy..
If we sign schweinsteiger and ganso, we could be looking at both for 60mln, that should've been funded with just kakas sale, but then again that money was to "balance the books" and put us in 0% debt, which is good but it's time to go back in debt, if you want to win CL or be one of europes elite you have to be in debt. Next year's possible line up: --------Ibrahimovic---------Pato------------- --------------------Ganso--------------------- --Schweinsteiger--Silva-----Boateng------- -Taiwo-----Nesta---Mexes-----Abate-------- --------------amelia/abbiati-------------------- I think that's probably the closest squad that can compete with barca.. Silva at CDM playing pure defensive in the midfield with two solid cbs in support and pace/skill down the wings, i hope to see even further improvement from boateng he's on the right path and works like a donkey for us... I can't wait until the 2011/12 season to start and for this mercato to end!! Btw, wtf two-3 days ago we apparently already signed witsel now all rumours completely disappeared.. Let's not forget Berlu probably makes a lot of money out of this, he owns half of italys media and all these rumours swinging around go on air he makes money for it as its his club and his tv station for example, if he owns any soccer news channels or whatever, just my prediction as to why we're always the kings of transfer rumours year in year out.. |
