I think Montolivo was going to be included had it not been for another injury.

Barzagli - Bonucci - Chiellini
Darmian ------- De Rossi -- Parolo ------- De Sciglio
Candreva ------------------------------ Insigne
Pelle (Zaza)

Rugani barely plays this year but gets called up? Conte not even trying to hide the juve bias..
Siamo a posto cosi.

He is in the reserves, and unless someone gets injured in the next week, he is going home. But yes, I agree. I don't think he deserves to be there. I can't understand how he was called up to that reserve role ahead of Romagnoli or Tonelli. Bernardeschi is another one....although i can see that one as there really aren't that many left footed options.
Sirigu and Marchetti instead of Donnarumma is a joke. He was by far better than Marchetti this season. As a matter of fact, I think Marchetti is pretty bad. Bringing Donnarumma as a 3rd choice would have been great for experience. Sure he wasn't going to play at all, but that's the whole point. Donnarumma and ... let's say a guy like Padelli would have been better options than both Sirigu and Marchetti regarding their level this season. Of course, Sirigu is a reliable GK, but yet ... Conte's done really weird choices since he's been the NT coach. PS : Ogbonna, Motta, Eder, Parolo and Giaccherini are other weird choices ...

I can not Believe Conte thinks there are 3 better italian keepers than Donnaruma
He needs to be slapped with his tupe

As Geo said, Sirigu barely played for his club this season, and he still sits as 2nd choice.
![]() The entire Milan has only one player chosen, and it is not even a player that the majority of Milan fans are convinced with. It is ridiculous at best. ![]() Conte has no interest in Italian NT anymore and just wants to get it over with. The team is full of mediocre players but he couldn't care less. By the way, I read a comment that the only reason that Conte even picked de Sciglio is just so that he could persuade him to move to Juventus.
I wouldn't be surprised Xu. haha
About Giaccherini, he is as average as they come.....but he does know Conte's system and he is versatile. I think Conte is doing the whole "best team" rather than "best individuals", which I understand.....but if you can make the best individuals into a team, than you are gold. He knows that he is gone after this obviously, so he's got no eye on the future. He is not thinking about building, which really screws Italy. I don't know how people aren't pissed about these choices. Parolo has been beyond average for Lazio this year, while Eder is as off form as they come - 1 goal in 6 months. Ogbona actually had a decent season in England so I can understand that. But all in all, he has mostly chosen players that he is familiar with and he won't have to build form zero with them. The injuries to Verratti and Marchisio are a huge blow and I think they kill Italy's chances. I didn't think I'd say this, but even Montolivo's injury hurts Italy quite a bit. That midfield doesn't look very good currently. But in a 1 month tournament, Motta and De Rossi can hold the fort quite well if they stay healthy. I think he'll stick to 3-5-2 and not 3-4-3. ----------------------------Buffon---------------------- ------------Barzagli - Bonucci - Chiellini------------ Florenzi - Motta - De Rossi - Sturaro - Giaccherini ---------------Pelle --------------Insigne--------------- Sturaro might be alternated with Parolo or Florenzi in the middle, while we might see Darmian and De Sciglio on the outsides. Clearly Bernardeschi, SES and Candreva are options for the outsides and a 4-3-3/3-4-3...while Eder and Immobile will be the options for the front positions. It's a well rounded squad in terms of what he wants to do obviously......I just don't think he chose the best players he could have chosen.

I have never had such disinterest in an International tournament before. Conte's squad selection makes it even more difficult to want to watch the Euros.
