So right now it looks like the strongest links for that famous mezz'ala are Hamsik and Asamoah. There are even some rumors circulating about Fabregas, but I would see him more as "Berlusconi's gift" to Allegri and the fans than the mezz'ala we are currently looking for. Pastore too is being linked as a gift. So I wouldn't count on us getting both Fabregas and Pastore. More likely would be Hamsik/Asamoah and Pastore/Fabregas. There might be some other additions too, possibly depending on Gattuso's situation (nothing new is happening on that front, though).
Frankly, if we get 2 out of the 4, all Milan fans will be extremely happy.
1. Fabregas
2. Pastore
3. Hamsik
4. Asamoah
I really think IF we were to get (2) players, it would be 1, 2 OR 3 & 4. Pastore & Hamsik are almost interchangeable. However, Hamsik would track back more and fit into Allegri's scheme a lot better. Fabregas is the number 1 choice as he's been in a Champions League Final, won a World Cup & Euro, and is one of the finest midfielders in the world. Pastore is more of a finesse player while Hamsik is a workhorse. Fabregas is only player in the group who has really proven himself on World Stage, while others are younger, up and coming, and could be better,,,, or worse.

Hamsik did pretty well in the WC. Actually, I think Hamsik did better an Cesc at the WC, since Cesc was a sub in Spain.
Even though they are rumors, it is much better than stuff Milan might be selling someone to balance it's book

Any combo of those 4 players would actually be pretty good. Even the "budget" alternative, i.e. Hamsik and Asamoah, would be very good for us. By budget I mean those two players can come here at about 40-45 mln, while the other two would cost that much each. So yeah, even if we just get those two, then I'm a very happy fan. Will it solve all of our problems and make us the top 3 favourites for the CL? No, but we can still go far and with a few refinements in the 2012 summer mercato we can really reach top notch levels (I'm thinking maybe getting some quality starters for the DM roles, and then whatever else needs to be done in defense or attack)

Twente is still a pretty good team; Dutch champions last year and runners up, losing in the last game, this year. I'm sure lesser teams might be interested in his services. Like mid-table teams in the bigger leagues. They might not give us much money though, maybe 2 mln tops.

the guy is really awful...i mean one would argue that Bonera is better for god's sake!!!

easily. OO is just not Milan quality.
I'm American and I watched Oguchi play in MLS. He was never good - even by MLS standards. But then somehow he was the best CB in the confederations cup in 2009 and that brought him to Milan. Sometimes I have a good week at my job, but they don't promote me to CEO because of it.

I'm american too russo. Yeah Gooch is frustrating as heck.
But we must consider, for milan he was good business. Free signing. Low wages, probably good enough practice player. Sold for a little money. I'm not opposed to moves like this.
The ones that bug me are ones like Digao, who couldn't play AND took a nonEU spot

You must be confusing him with someone else. Gooch never played in MLS. He played two years at Clemson and then went to France to join Metz in 2002. And actually he was quite a good player for Standard Liege in Belgium. He was the league's Foreign Player of the Year in 2005 and he was a mainstay for the U.S. team during the 2006 World Cup and qualifiers. Gooch actually might have developed into a decent squad player for Milan had he had time to work with Nesta and others to develop his skills, but then he lost a year to a serious injury and now finds himself facing his 30th birthday in another year, so his time has probably passed.
Milan will probably sell him or release him at this point. If they get any money at all, it will have been a good investment since he was a Bosman. From what I understand, Standard Liege would be happy to see him return.

I'm not sure what you could possibly be basing that on since he never suited up for Milan except for a couple of friendlies in which he actually showed some things of promise and some things that needed work. At the time Milan signed him he had been a standout for several years for Standard Liege and was a rock on defense for both club and country. Once he came back from his serious injury he wasn't nearly up to par for the USMNT last summer and maybe will never be the same again. But when Milan signed him he had some promise and might have developed into a player who could have helped the squad. We'll never know how helpful he might have been, but I don't think it's fair to say he was awful. He wasn't anything, really, since he was seriously injured before he had a chance to play.
