as for the midfield role, what about Mathieu Coutadeur from Monaco, i've rated him highly for a few years now, kind of strikes me as a Gourcuff type of player but probably costs much less. any thoughts?

Yeah 28 wouldn't be a great investement but if we're to win the CL this year we should look into players that dont need any grooming or time to improve we need direct players.. Guys i'm also wondering the fact that we signed Taiwo.. Do you guys think he'll proove to be a good signing? Cause now coentrao and clichy are both available, clichy is available on the cheap as well and he's shown his class for the most part, i havent seen much of taiwo all i know is his left foot shooting ability is outstanding its a rocket

Very true. It's one thing to rejuvenate the squad, but a bunch of U23-24 players without any experience cannot guide you to the Champions League title.

De Rossi has some 3-4 years of good football left in him and he does have experience at high levels. How much would he cost?

His contract ends June 2012, his market value is near 25-30mln euros suprisingly which is A LOT for us for our midfielder, i'm sure we weren't looking to spend near those figures but i'm sure a deal for 15-20 can be arranged with the addition of a youngster or if carlo gets the roma coaching job he'll definitely approve of sending one of our senators over there (gattuso?) .. Who knows but for now these are just rumours but I like the idea of de rossi which is why i carried out posting about it, i think he's exactly what we need on either sides of the midfield, he'll have more then just a year or so of good football left of him as 28 isn't old, 31-32 would be a different story, and he has qualified experience for the CL imo, he has 8 goals for italy in 40 something appearances correct me if i'm wrong.. he's a player i really like to watch when i watch roma along with totti and vucinic but vucinic hasn't been so good lately... id like hamsik too but this could be a near impossible transfer..

More good news, Astori said he'd like to come back to Milan but he'll leave it up to cellino and galliani, so now it's all up to us to take him back or not.. with our depth in the back now i dont know if i would but i'd really like to have him he's become a great prospect.. I always say this but he's right now the same player as Ranocchia, inter bought him for 15mln, they are very similar they have height they dont lack speed what people dont realize is the issue is acceleration, take off speed sort of like a car in the short distance like we saw pato doing to ranochia many times he's not quick enough to turn and get to full pace like what Thiago silva is very good at, but his strength is his ability to read the game, i dont think any other defender in the world can do it as well as thiago maybe some aspects make vidic and pique on the same level as him but as far as reading the game noone does it better then thiago i would love him to retire at milan and be our next maldini..

But then again on the de rossi situation we might not even need experience in the mid cause we have MVB + Ambro

I think Ranocchia is a donkey He turns like a river barge..his mobility is whats stoping him from being WC.He reads the game but his legs can't do what his brain wants to over short distances..Over say 30 yards he's good but if he get's turned on the edge of the D then he's goosed.

Among Real players, I think this guy is the easiest to get. Milan linked with him but he said he only wanted Real.

De Rossi is a dream. I agree that he suits RCM better, if Gattuso goes to Russia, let's sign him. 28 is the best age for player in his natural position. When he gets 31-32, we can keep him like Ambro, Pippo,... He is WC and seems to be fed up with Roma and Totti.

After what I read about Gattuso, if that's really what he said, he is as good as gone. If so, good luck to him and thanks for everything.
I really think players should know when to leave and quit football. Like when u can n longer run and walk on the pitch all the time and when your home crowd boo you everything you touch the ball, you think those r good hints.

Gattuso said that he is thinking about the option to Russia, as he plans to retire in two years and got to think about that. In short, he is saying the money is really tempting at this stage of his career since he plans to not play the game in two years. IF I were him, I would take the money, simply b/c it is more than twice he is getting paid in Milan and by watching him play, this could be the last big contract he gets.

De Rossi will be another great addition. Personally, I think the window of winning for Milan is NOW. Ibra is 29, Robinho is 27-8, Cassano is 28, T. Silva is 27, Nesta 34,Abbiatti is 32, Mexes is 28, Taiwo is 26...with the exception of Pato, Merkel, and Abate, the core of the team is approaching 30 with some over 30s. This is not a 3 yr plan project whether the winning starts NOW. I give the team about 3-5 yrs max to be dominate. Thus getting players like De Rossi is perfect, as he has not won much, borderline WC talent, hunger to win more titles and most importantly, a two way midfielder.
