It's actually not that popular normally so just a coincidence. What isn't a coincidence was when a few years back in one game there was Andre Silva up front, Bernardo Silva our Right, Adrien Silva in CM, then Rafa Silva came off the bench to play LW. Andre Silva was taken off shortly after but for a few minutes there was 4 Silva's playing in the attacking third. Silva is essentially Portugal's version of Smith. as in, it's that common. 

I will also add that when you guys walk about corruption I always laugh. These two starting for the U21s at 22 years of age while a 19 year old better defender who helped win the league doesn't even make the team. Who you play for very much plays a part in selections. Apparently being a league winner hasn't changed that bias with Rafa making the squad instead of Nuno Santos but then if Rafa didn't make the squad then the best team in Portugal, that ended up in 3rd because they're sooooo good, wouldn't have any players in the NT for the Euro
