I would guess so, if he was part of the senior squad.

I think Abate is now one of the best RB in Italy, if not the best, and certainly he can be one of the best in the world. He needs to improve his crossing, otherwise he's a quality RB, and also has some space for improvement, so he'll be better next year.

Definitely the best Italian RB out there.

Speaking of Tassotti, I think you should know that he retired from Italy NT because he was banned for eight games for a vicious elbowing on Luis Enrique's face. I think that he believed it was easier that he just retired.

No doubt the best fullback/wingback in Italy this season. His improvement has been staggering to say the least and it's definitely time Prandelli gave him his shot in the national team.

Fact is, if he can continue next season as he has this season and translate his domestic performances to the CL (well, one could argue he already has this season), then I have few doubts that by the end of next season he could be referred to as world class.

Only Alexandre Pato made more successful dribbles than Abate for champions Milan. While the forward registered 1.5 per game, Abate -Milan’s first-choice right-back- averaged 1.3 from his 29 appearances; on the opposite flank, Luca Antonini made 0.5 at left-back, a clear indication of what Abate offers.

Although the Milan man tops the successful dribbles category from our five full-backs, he’s bottom of the five for key passes, though with 0.8 per game, he adds plenty to Milan going forward, a stat backed up by his 1.2 successful crosses per game. Abate can count himself a little unlucky to have picked up just 1 assist last season, though, with his attacking contribution a significant part of Milan’s play.

Defensively, only Milan’s central midfield three offered more tackles- Abate made 3.2 per game, easily the best of our five full-backs. He also managed 2.1 interceptions, third best at Milan, and with 3 clearances per game, his work in stopping opponents is an integral part of a defence that conceded just 24 goals last season. Abate will be world class if he improves a little more, he just has to work on his close control to cut into the box, i notice his main way of passing people is using his pace and spreading the ball out of reach to out run his opponent, if he had the close control and a better shot we could have a great threat on the right wing.. as far as antonini goes im just so suprised in how he hasn't been improvig and playing not so well, he was doing a solid job in one of our worst seasons

WC players are players who can maintain their play over a few seasons, Abate certainly is on at path.

Abate has done a Frank Lampard type of revelation. No non sense & annoying hype, just slowly on the right track & moving only to higher levels. 2 years ago many AC Milan players hated him & some even called him the worst & most unskilled AC Milan player ever. But I guess he will be some one to carry the Italian defending legacy once Nesta leaves. Certainly proved himself against Real Madrid & Barcelona. Now I guess doing well against the wingers of the English opponents in a winning side is his next task.
