Sheva too played far far below his standard after he left us, for € 40-45 million. Good business there too. But Sheva was 30 years anyway and Kakà was so prone to injury, although still had some "theoretical years in his prime" since he was just 27. Thiago Silva is turning 27 this fall, so as a central defender there are still good years left for him. Also he hasn't shown signs of losing his game, actually he is getting better and better, and he isn't really that injury prone. So we really need sick amounts of money to make this deal worthwhile.
Defenders are generally at their best between 27-28 (before, they lack some experience or lack some tactical knowledge or lack something) and 32-33 (after, they start losing physical abilities) ...
So Silva will keep improving for 2-3 years if everything's ok with injuries ... If we sell him, that means Galliani and co will have turned totally mad. That won't happen anyway and if this article about what he said had to be true, there would be a lot of other articles following to say "Silva shouldn't leave", "The reasons why Silva will leave before the end of this Summer ...", etc ...
About Taiwo, I think that even if he gets an EU passport, he will be considered as a non-EU transfer because the rule isn't about the number of non-EU in the team but the number of non-EU transfers allowed for each Italian team during a season. That means that if he was a non-EU player when he signed (or when he will sign), we'll have to hope that FIGC allows 2 non-EU transfers to the Serie A teams ...
Then theres still hope since the Mercato hasn't officially opened yet and we only announce our signings on July 1st? Or is it because we've already announced it that we still need the second non-EU spot anyway?
By the way, Thiago's agent came out to say that the interview answers were distorted. Seriously, they'll do anything to sell papers, no matter which country.
We got the young 'un's. We take out big gunz
