Barça is a strange case. They have a world class team, really, but they always see the need to invest big cash. First with the mad Ibra-Eto'o swap. As good as Ibra is I still don't think it was worth making that investment. Then they sold him losing big money. That summer they also bought Villa for the attacking department, for 40 million I believe. Right now they have one of the best attacking trios, Messi-Pedro-Villa, and they want to get Rossi who wont come for less than 25 million. A great sub but maybe not worth the investment.
Fabregas too would probably just sit on the bench. As Kastriot said they can wait for one of their primavera/cantera players to step up once Xavi is past his prime. Spending 40-50 million for a bench player who basically just has "sentimental value" is wrong. Just as wrong as constantly investing in big name forwards just to please the fans and create hype.
