I think the midfield was what separated two sides. We were already inferior, and the injuries and suspension simply killed us. Even with the better defense and supposedly better forwards, we still lost. (I was confident though that we would pull through.) Of course, I think the referee was also part of the reason, but then again, a team like Milan should be able to take on Spurs taken into account all possible irregularities, such as referee factor.

Which is why I was a bit upset with our winter transfer strategy. I believe that Galliani and co. had "decided" for Milan to give up on CL and just focus on Serie A. Players we signed were all ineligible for CL knockout stages. Ironically, the only one that would be eligible (Didac Vila) was not even registered.

Retrospectively, a scudetto is better than nothing at all, and maybe Galliani did the "smart" thing. In 2004-05 season, we fought until the last minute for everything but in the end lost everything. I think maybe Milan administration realized that and strategized for this season, which I don't mind, but I don't know if I liked it or not. Deep down, I know that I always want Milan to win the CL.

I want to witness that one day Milan will surpass Real Madrid to become the king of Europe. We were so close in 1995.
