I knew these co-ownership deals with Genoa would bite us in the @$$.

Beretta, our Primavera player, was used as a pawn and we traded half of him to get half of Boateng..and now that Beretta scored four goals, his stock went up, and Prince's stock has definitely gone up after a good season... Now we have to pay more for both of them, instead of paying that simple 6 million to Portsmouth. Beretta is a really talented player, I like him alot more than Verdi but thats just me.

We also have Strasser, Oduamadi and Zigoni's 50 % cards traded to get Sokratis. Zigoni seems to be having a decent season at Genoa, Oduamadi not so great for us this year, Strasser definitely made a name for himself so his price goes up.

I just wonder how are we going to deal with it at the end?

I think your approach to this is wrong. You are counting the losses, but instead you should count the gains.

Yes, we could have just paid 6mil for Boateng outright. But how knew he would turn out great back then? Would you rather pay a very risky 6 million or a certain 10-12 million for a guaranteed great player?

Same goes for our youngsters. They HAVE to play somewhere while they are developing. With the coownership other teams have more incentive do develop our talent. They are doing "the weeding out" process - we will end up paying more, but we will know that the money is spent well.

Just my 2 cents.

You know why this is wrong in my opinion? Teams have scouts, the thing you are saying is like refusing to risk and taking the easy way out for bad player assessment, mercato and scouting. And besides why not straight loan then, may be or may be not possible in Boateng's case but in general.
