Story (if true) only mentions that we have a verbal agreement. Legally, nothing could prevent Monto deciding to sign elsewhere or us deciding we don't want him anymore. This was just a "gentleman's agreement" that you would assume will be honored by both parties.
Even a verbal agreement is a violation of the rule, since verbal agreement can be treat as a written agreement in the court of law. Thats why I think even if this is true, it is quite stupid for either side to leak it out. Since the person who reported this is liable for a libel/defamation charge from Monty and Milan, if this is not true. In short, if Milan is getting charge by Viola, Milan has all the rights in the world to charge the person who reported this libel, as long as it is proven that is not the truth.

Aquilani's currently at a similar level to Montolivo or others like that, a player that is really useful but hasn't ever really reached the top. Ability shouldn't be ignored and Aquilani is really talented.
Ambro, IMO, was never a WC player. He was a great player for Milan due to his strengths were what Milan needed to compliment the other players. Thats a huge difference between a WC players and a great compliment players. An example would be a few yrs ago, the mid trio of Fletcher, Park and Carrick. Where none of them individually were WC, together they formed a WC midfield b/c they each compliment each other well.
It's funny how you said Monty and Aqua still have not reach the top levels yet. Since i think all players have the potential to reach the top levels one time or another but can they make it, is another story. Carrick like you said is not and never was WC, but like Monty and Aqua when he was mid 20s, people kept saying he could be WC..... Point I am trying to make is that, sometime as fans we tend to read too much into the players potentials and project them to an unreal expectations. Like we look at a what a player is doing when they are early 20s and think that he will only get better b/c he is young......thus thinking he will one day be at the level of the best players at that time. Most of these players never make it, not b/c they don't have talents or lazy or injuries but b/c they are really just as good as they can be in their early 20s. Like if a new early 20s striker scored 10 goals in his debut season in Serie A, some might think he will one day score 25 goals a season with better teammates and plays better.....but maybe he will just ended up scoring around 10 goals a season for the rest of his career with one or two seasons where he scored 15 or 18. Thats actually sounds a lot like Borriello.
