p.s. To continue my rant - I think the problems of Italian NT and Italian clubs are deeply interconnected.
Almost none of the Italy NT squad are playing at top clubs.
Chiellini, Buffon - playing at struggling Juve, Rossi - playing at Villareal (not a bad club but not a top club either), Balotelli - ManCity (not a top club either YET),
Aquillani - hopping between struggling Juve and Liverpool, Cassano - played at Sampdoria till this season, not a starter at Milan, Pirlo - plagued with injuries.... etc etc etc...
The difference between a top team and a crappy team is often lack of form and lack of confidence. I am sure if Rossi joined Barca, he would become a top player and a star for Italy, if Aquillani starts playing regularly at Milan I don't see why he can't be a star (he certainly has the talent), if Cassano starts for Milan I am sure he can deliver more than he does now.

Are they tryign to say that Busquets and Pedro are better than any Italy midfielder / attacker?!
BULLSH--! Busquets and Pedro are just solid team players, nothing more nothing less. Take them out of their Xavi / Iniesta surroundings and they won't play nearly as good.
In fact I think just about any of the Italy's players can provide much more.
/end of useless rant
That largely depends on who we are playing. You probably forgot all those games where our midfield is getting run over and Pirlo fails to keep up with players he is marking.
Fast players usually run right through Pirlo in current form. And when we have our backs pressed against our goal, Pirlo can't do anything for the attack either.
