I am quite confused with several decisions in this game too.
For RLC's injury, it is definitely unfortunate and I am fine with that not being called a foul. Then, someone brought up the red card Maignan received against Genoa (in which game Giroud had to play as makeshift GK to see out the game). Mike kneed the attacker while he cleared the ball with head; he was certainly aggressive and reckless, but so was Parma GK. Both players were injured as a result (RLC in worse condition). So, what's the difference between these two incidents? I am genuinely confused and curious.
As for the goal we conceded, I am totally fine that Bartesaghi wasn't fouled. The Parma player jumped and Bartesaghi didn't; the Parma player didn't use his hands/arms on Bartesaghi when he ascended (I think when he came down, he used his hands but I think that's natural). Bartesaghi screwed up by not jumping and that tricked Maignan too. He was too busy waving foul and didn't try to save. However, two questions remain: (1) Was Maignan fouled? was there illegal blocking? I thought that GK is protected within the small box? (2) Did the referee already whistle the game dead? If he did, VAR simply cannot intervene, because that's what they claimed after Pulisic's goal was called off against Sassuolo. It occurred to me after the game, and it is making me very upset.
On the bright side, now that we are no longer a threat to Inter Merda, I hope that their referees will make it easier on us. Or, will they?
