Spanish NT captain joins on 4+1 year contract for €13 million. Salary ~€5.5 million. Reports that he was not happy staying in Spain and wanted to return to Italy.
I believe my opinion of him is shared by some others who read this thread, I guess we hope he brings many goals with him. 15 league goals last season plus 5 CL goals.

I can think of a few reasons:
1. We really value him and believe that he can turn into another Giroud.
2. We don't have too much negotiation power. Morata sees this as his last big contract (in Europe).
3. We are counting on Saudi teams knocking on the door for his service in 2 or 3 years.
4. Camarda is only 16 years old right now, and 4/5 years is not an unrealistic length of time before he grows into a starter. Having Morata around will benefit the young kid so much.
5. We can't afford losing another target, especially in this critical position. It would not just make us look bad, but would have devastating effect.
6. The management is just dumb and never learns.
Anything (or combination of anything) is possible.

If we dont start Camarda regularly by the season after this then he will be lost to us (barring injuries). He is a generational talent and if he stay injury free have the potential to be best in the world. The guy went straight from U-17 player of the tournament to scoring a brace in his first start at the U-19 despite being the youngest player on the field.

As long as we can get another striker equally as good as Morata I feel like we’ll be a bit better than last season. We were relying on a 36 year old with no one able to come in behind him.
