New CF, backup LB? No chance of RW, right?

The injury situation will decide, IMO.
If Ibra is back, Origi & Rebic play 15+ matches each, then CF is set. There is still Lazetic.
A healthy Florenzi will allow Dest more time at LB.
RW is now a stable position. Saelemaekers and Messias form a good duo.

With Red Bird officially taking over, I can see there being some cash injection for January. Probably not going to be massive, but should be able to get us something if there is a major need

There is a reason why a left footed RB doesn't exist in modern football.
That player slows the game down, can not contribute enough, higher possibility to make mistakes defensively, etc..
Dest can play LB, yes maybe. Should he be the permanent backup of Theo? No. We need a proper LB in winter.

Wasn't Paolo Maldini a right-footed LB though?

Lol. I am 31. Started watching Milan carefully in early 2000s. He was able to use both.
However, if Dest gives you Maldini vibes... Than why not

Haha, Paolo was originally developed for RB, then played LB due to injury crisis, then became the legendary there.
However, he trained his left well enough so that crossing is not a problem.
Philipp Lahm is another RB that play LB at world class level. And there is a difference, the German love to drift to the center to do some relay passes and shooting.
Modern football invent the new role: inverted wingback, the one who run more into the center. For this role, the one without a dominant foot is better, similar to the inside forward (Leao). Joao Cancelo plays very well at LB position.
Theo moves to the center a lot. Ballo Toure fails because he can only hug line and we don't cross to the box as often as the English.
So maybe I'm too optimist but Dest can rival Theo as he has speed, skill, and versality.
