Cagliari striker Marco Borriello reveals he turned down Real Madrid and Manchester City,
“I could’ve joined Manchester City, because Milan wanted Robinho. I could’ve gone to Real Madrid, as Bronzetti had spoken to Perez about a swap with Karim Benzema. Roma offered the same contract as Milan, my agent wanted me to join Juve on loan.
“Eventually I got fed up and said I’d stay at Milan. Galliani warned if I didn’t leave, I’d be dropped from the Champions League squad list. In hindsight, he could’ve signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic then, so I understand where he was coming from, but we didn’t talk for a long time.

He did, from time to time, score some screamers. Too bad we never seemed to have good luck with Italian strikers sinice Massaro and Marco Simone. (correct me if I am wrong).

I thought we had pretty decent luck with Inzaghi
In fairness though, generally the Italian strikers we had were always in the shadow of star foreign strikers. Van Basten, Weah, Bierhoff (not really a fan favourite but still a big name striker for us), Sheva, Ibra and I'd also say Pato (he never reached his potential, but in his early years he was the darling for most fans) and even Ronaldo.
Names like Virdis, Simone and Massaro are simply never going to compete with them, even Inzaghi doesn't have the "aura" of Van Basten, Weah and Sheva. Not to say these guys don't deserve huge respect, they were the ones who'd often sweat the most for the shirt and guaranteed to give their all. I really had massive respect for Massaro for this reason, you knew he wouldn't let you down in the work rate department (a bit like Lapadula now, though Massaro was much better).

But you can't forget casinosidorna.com and casinokortspel.com if you are talking about playing for real.

I remember when i was little and glued to every game that Van Basten played. I really agree with you about the aura part. But some players are just larger than life.

I agree, there was just something special about those names, it wasn't about them not being Italian (there have been many Italians who would fit this category too), just that they seemed to have something "special" about them.

I loved the Sheva Inzaghi partnership. I agree with the Aura but I think that's more a personality thing.

I met Massaro at a shopping mall in Florida while on vacation by fluke a few years back in Bal Harbour to be exact lol, very polite guy. With all due respect to him, I agree with Dev. Players like himself, Inzaghi etc. were often overshadowed by superstars like Sheva, Ronaldo etc. I typically prefer the skillful striker over the poacher type any day, in fact Gilardino was one of the most frustrating players for me to watch in that Milan squad. Even a player like Bacca, he's always scored goals but if it were up to me I'd take a player who scores far less goals but can create & still score.
Icardi reminds me a bit of Shevchenko, I'm not putting them anywhere on the same level so nobody attack lol, but he's someone I'd love to see switch sides to be completely honest. He's had problems with mentality and arguing with coaches but his skill is undeniable.

Just to get slightly back on topic, I must say Borriello's done really well. He's on the same number of goals as Bacca, but while Bacca's scored 4 penalties, Borriello's scored none.

I always liked Boriello. I wish his career with us went a little differently. He is clearly not this superstar in terms of a name or even ability....but I always appreciated what he brought to the table. Clearly, it also takes 2 to tango and he wanted to be the big dog in the line up also...which is also why he left.
