RE: Winter mercato January 2015 - WCmilan - 01-27-2015 I dont know if anyone has mentioned it but I'll just sum up what I've read so far today... 1)Destro is pretty much a done deal, but it looks like most of you already know that. All that needs to be done is getting the OK from Destro himself, who apparently wants Milan anyhow. -I'm on the fence with this one, he's a very good goalscorer and is young, but 17m is a lot for us. 2)Bocchetti has apparently been signed and will undergo medicals now(sp?), good Italian defender that would probably be on the national team if he was playing in Italy, his name sort of faded when he moved to Spartak moscow. -I think this is a bargain signing (given we dont pay too much for him), solid Italian defender who plays old school, and maybe our defense does need to go back to the basics. He'll definitely be able to defend a corner lol. 3)Munoz is also apparently close to being signed, with Zamparini openly admitting we are in negotiations. -This will be a good signing, high potential defender and has a lot of experience in Italy for his age. Has shown he's upped his quality a level this season and still has plenty of time to grow 4)Milannews also reports that Galliani is waiting for the OK to sign Paulinho from Tottenham, +I've read that he also wants a move. -Will be the best signing since God knows when.. Finally, a good midfielder, something we need! Watch it not happen now, lol. 5)Oddly enough, we're trying to sign Salah from Chelsea.. This is a weird move, isn't he a RW/RM? Like as in the same position that Suso,Honda AND Cerci play? Unnecessary signing, if we need another winger I'd sign someone for the left side. Apparently Taarabt is the backup option if he falls through. -Salah is a very fast, and good player. Is Cerci not convincing management? I feel like we don't need Salah unless one of Honda or Cerci are going to go. 6)Finally, we're trying to swap Armero for Antonelli (both loans until end of season) with the option to buy Antonelli, then obviously Genoa could sign Armero on a free. If this is true, given the relationship between Preziosi and us, then I think it could be a done deal soon, and I do like Antonelli. -If this happens, we've worked a miracle. Getting rid of some deadwood for a good, hard working, Milan raised fullback that we need. All in all, it looks like management finally got punched in the face with the reality of our situation, and have seen that without investment we will not go ANYWHERE, except maybe Seria B. I'm desperately hoping we sign Paulinho, we need to get Montolivo on the bench ASAP. I agree on wasting resources on the names you mentioned, it's insane to think how much the club has wasted in this regard. Aside from footballing reasons as to why I'm not a huge fan of Ibra, I'm still not sure the maths adds up in this situation. Taking your example, if the club spends 120-140m a year on wages, that would mean more than half the club's revenue to pay for player salaries. That leaves a 100-120m (maybe a little more) to pay for all other staff in the club (coaches and directors certainly aren't cheap), as well as other expenses and overheads (not even considering tax etc), as well as giving a transfer budget. It doesn't seem feasible all of these costs can be covered by this. To put it into perspective, Bayern have recently set a wage budget of 180m (http://www.espnfc.com/bayern-munich/story/2021426/bayern-munich-salary-budget-180-million-euros) for both players and coaches. That's only 40-60m more to what you suggest about Milan. However, at the same time, Bayern's revenue is at about 487m per annum (sourced from BBC), which is over 200m more than where Milan are right now. It's a pretty big discrepancy between cost of salaries and revenues when comparing the two clubs. I'm no expert in this topic by any means, but looking at the figures there and comparing them to other clubs, something doesn't seem to quite add up. Obviously I'm open to anyone with an explanation on this topic. (01-27-2015, 06:16 AM)Gabriel426 Wrote: Dev don't really want to get into the Ibra debate with you again. Fair point on both accounts
RE: Winter mercato January 2015 - reza - 01-27-2015 By our standards Paulinho would be amazing. Don't see it happening, not even sure it can happen if suddenly Berlusconi opens his wallet cause 4 days left in mercato. Salah won't come here, again even if Berlusconi has opened wallet, he will have more attractive options. Destro being 23 is fine really, a bit too much money or not is not really the issue IF we are serious about doing something remotely genuine (which I doubt but just in case we are). As for the CB and FB, we just need improvement and with injuries and suspension even more now, we are probably going to get rushed into getting someone not good... Its easy to score when Pjanic and Totti feed you the ball. Lets see how he does with Essien and Poli. Its not easy to score. He got 13 in 20 something games at Siena too. I would much prefer a quality €17m midfielder to Destro. But if that money idnt spent to get Destro , it wont be spent on a midfielder. RE: Winter mercato January 2015 - millinarios - 01-27-2015 We are spending our hard earned money on a striker? What a surprise... So f*cking tired of our usual last day mercato panic. At least put some planning into it, please. RE: Winter mercato January 2015 - Jay Crisp - 01-27-2015 (01-27-2015, 04:54 PM)reza Wrote: cause 4 days left in mercato. Right. I'd rather have Destro than nothing, but every single transfer makes me more and more amazed at our management's stupidity. How is it possible that they can not see that we need a freaking midfielder??? RE: Winter mercato January 2015 - millinarios - 01-27-2015 (01-27-2015, 05:46 PM)Stitch Wrote: Right.
