Hope they don't drag their heel's , and not invest properly as much as this season is going better than I expected last July ...this squad is not good enough to not invest properly. But then again Galliani alway's says this shite I hope they are not relying on loan and free deal's. http://www.football-italia.net/apr22n.html

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Ca Rossonero - 04-22-2011

For those unfamiliar with Lamela's game.....

He's a player much more similar to pastore, kaka. Very left footed, very cultured left. Excellent runner with a good turn of pace and can play excellent 1 tough and go football, which would be awesome with Robinho and Pato.

He was named man of the match. Impressive for na 18 year old. Still very young, just turned 19. I wouldn't be opposed to grabbing him + menez who might go for pretty cheap. Menez would offer cover and versatility to play wings and a 4-2-3-1.

Lamela is not ready to be fulltime starter for a ucl caliber club, but he's growing fast and has always been highly regarded. He was suppose to follow messi's suit and go to barca at 12/13 years old except argentine FA blocked it

The thing with Ganso is, I'm convinced his future is likely in seedorf/pirlos mezzala role. He lacks pace and movement to play in the hole. He could be easily marked out in european game by DMs. He'd have to play a 4-2-3-1 or probably a deeper role to take advantage of his passing and vision. You just don't see #10s like him (rui, zidane etc) able to succeed behind 2 strikers in a 4-3-1-2 anymore.

That said if Boateng is at RCM in a 4-3-1-2 and we playe robinho it would take a natural 4-2-3-1 look in attck so maybe it works fine.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Hitman - 04-22-2011

We're linked with Cesc (omg)...and decided to think about next year..

Realistic formation for next year, give that we get Cesc:

--------------------------- ABBIATI ----------------------------
------------------------ (MARCHETTI) ------------------------

---------------- NESTA -------------- SILVA -------------------
---------------- (MEXES) ----------- (YEPES) -----------------

ABATE ------------------------------------------------- TAIWO
(ODDO)............................................ ............... (ZAMBRO)

----------------------- VAN BOMMEL --------------------------
.........................(AMBRO, STRASSER)............................

------ PRINCE --------- FABREGAS ------------ GANSO -----
--- (MERKEL, RINO)----------------------- (URBY, CONSTANT)

------------- PATO --------------------- IBRA -----------------
------- (CASSANO, INZAGHI) ------ (ROBINHO) ------------

If Abate plays well like this year and improves his offence, and if Taiwo improves alot on his Marseille form (like how Boateng did with Milan)... that formation could win you a CL..with a huge amount of luck. I think it's vital we keep Van Bommel and if we don't renew for Ambro - we will need someone like Fernando.

NOTES:

- Ganso can play good in all those three positions in midfield except defensive... check out his game vs Cerro Porteno and watch his second half how he switched between them..
- Urby hopefully can step up next year and have a big season - we need a midfielder like that. Constant is a carbon copy of him but I think offers more guarantees.
- Formation is assuming Pirlo, Seedorf, Flamini are all out this summer. If we get rid of the first two, we will need one more midfielder on top of Ganso that is creative, otherwise we will have no other creative midfielders.
- Berlusconi mentioned buying two champions - looks like we are completely full in attack so it has to be an addition in midfield - there's no way we will add one more striker, unless...............someone leaves..

- Realistically speaking we won't get Cesc, so Ganso will play in that middle position slightly ahead of the midfield and just behind the attack. We do not have a suitable replacement though, we have Prince and Cassano who can do that...meh...

That formation there is WAY too offensive. One counter-attack, then BAM! we concede. Seriously there's no way Allegri would change formation next year. He wanted balance in the team, he's creating it perfectly with his 4-3-1-2.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Hitman - 04-23-2011

I think you misunderstood the spacing... that formation is the exact same one but with a trequartista slightly ahead of the players...... and you might be underrating Fabregas and Ganso's abilities to defend.

----------- abs -----------
---- the 4 defenders ---
kpb ---- mvb ---- urby
-------- ganso -----------
------ 2 strikers ---------

It's more like that, and if Cesc was in, put Ganso in the left and Cesc ahead... that way we have prince, ganso and cesc all able to play in the 'hole' at one time, so they can rotate during game and whoever goes to the whole, cesc can slot back in their spot for that attack.... Allegri is a fan of every one moving as long as there's balance...

Great,we should get him A.S.A.P when he is relatively cheap.we have no this type of offensive player in current squad, and speedy players always flourish in CL games.

Berlu said he will get 2 world class players if we win scudetto.besides ganso,I hope another player better be robben or bale.

(04-22-2011, 12:19 PM)ZvonimirBoban Wrote: So... back to the case where someone commented that by buying more forward-winger e.g. Lavezzi or Robben, we will be forced to use 4-2-3-1. According to your argument....

If we bought one of them, our offense will be:
Van Bommel - Ambro
Lavezzi/Robben - Ibra - Robinho/Cassano
Pato

But our defensive shape will be NOWHERE near 4-3-1-2, as Lavezzi and Robinho (or Cassano and Robben or any forward-winger in this matter) cannot defend and cannot fill the hole in midfield.

Thus what Siregar stated: we will be forced to adapt to new system.

If I'm totally honest I don't see us getting Robben or Lavezzi anyway, both have been tentatively linked but I can't imagine us getting either. Anyway, on the off chance we do get one of them, then I doubt we would play four forwards (if you count Robben as a forward) on the pitch like you suggest as it's just too unbalanced and Allegri's already shown a preference for solidity in the side this season.

(04-22-2011, 01:46 PM)Siregar Wrote: I do think the formation decides how the team play (not bad or well but the way the game played). Like your description above, I don't agree. Our core is 3 midfielder which if we do focus, it is Bommel. It is like 4-1-2-1-2.

------------Bommel-----------------
Gattuso--------------------Seedorf
------------Boateng---------------
-----Pato----------------------Ibra

With the movements of Boateng Ibra and Pato, the core of the formation is still the same, lies on Bommel covered by two midfielders. Boateng and Ibra can be as AMs there behind Pato. The variation of the formation on the field would be 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1. It won't be 4-2-3-1 which means Gattuso and Bommel won't be in line in two DM-partnership behind Baoteng, Seedorf and Ibra. Bommel will be almost of the time in the centre of the field or in the centre of midfield of normal play (when the ball is our and starting to build the play, the time we can see the original formation of a team).

It is totally different with 4-2-3-1. The core of the formation is the 2 midfileders (the 2 DMs partnership). The formation can't be turn to 4-3-1-2 since its different core. The centre of the midfield is the difference. One uses 1 player (Bommel) covered by two players, the other one 2 player/DMs in 4-2-3-1 formation.

That is why it is not easy even hard to change the system (from 4-3-1-2 to 4-2-3-1). It is much easier to change 4312 to 4321 or to 433 since the base are the same using 1 centred player (Bommel). Because of the different system, I said in previous post that we need many players since 4231 need different characteristic player compared to 4321 if we do want to have good play both defensively and offensively (good and fresh DMs and forward/wingers that can defend, close the space, etc well). We can play now with 4-2-3-1 but it would be pretty easy for opponent to destroy us IMO since we are very week in the centre of our formation cos we have only two good players defensively on the centre of our formation (the two DMs). Robinho, Pato, Cassano can't defend. Robinho is better but he is not the one who can play wide defensively (not the forward or striker that can defend or help defend well).

Van Bommel is generally our central DM, I've never argued against it, but Gattuso doesn't push as high as Seedorf and will generally be near Van Bommel, unlike Seedorf who has freedom to push high. If Seedorf's high and an opponent attacks us, then Van Bommel is forced to pull to the left to cover Seedorf's area. However, I will say when we defend in deeper areas, then our midfield 3 will be flat in front of the defence.

Again, I have to say your ideas on 4-2-3-1 to me seem too rigid. I really don't see why a midfielder on a higher line can't drop back into the line of 2 to make it a line of 3, especially when your midfielders are tactically aware, like we've had with Rino and Van Bommel this season. For me variations in systems are a must in the modern game as we need to be flexible to adjust to various situations. It's like when Udinese beat Napoli last week, they played a back four but the LB often pushed into the deep midfield's line leaving a shape closer to a back 3.

I also can't agree that opponents would find it easy to break down 4-2-3-1 because we rely on two DM's to provide stability. I say this because in the lineup I was suggesting, yes you have one wide forward, but a midfielder is imperative on the other side. Boateng for example may play on a higher line than the midfielders, but it's not like he can't be a force defensively, never mind others like Flamini, Seedorf or Pirlo. On top of that, the type of player I want in the centre of the three would also have defensive duties, and that's what makes Ganso so appealing, as he doesn't hesitate about helping the defence. Beyond a slight change in positioning, which we're already effectively doing lately, my system doesn't have any less defensive players than our current system, and therefore with players correctly drilled shouldn't be any less stable than what we've seen this season.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - will4li - 04-23-2011

In football, controlling the ball is the ultimate truth. if we cann't duplicate barca,we can play real madrid football. even ultra solidity-oriented mourhio only play one pure DM in his first 11 this seaon.I think we also can play more box to box midfielders.

Play kpb and lazarri ,poli or montolivo(if we get anyone of them this summer) alongside van bommel, the attacking trio is ganso, robben(or bale)and pato.how about this first formation for next year CL games? reserve ibra for his territory---serie A.

While Ganso and Cesc can defend, they are attacking-minded players. In the midfield another DM is needed. A Gattuso type of player to be more precise.

So, a midfield destroyer, a playmaker who can defend and dictate play at the same time, and an attacking minded midfielder would make the perfect midfield IMO.

RE: Summer Mercato 2011 - Ca Rossonero - 04-23-2011

you guys realize if fabregas came ganso wouldn't right? No way we splash 80 mil on the two of them. Especially since they are similar. I have doubts either can play trequartista in serie A, atleast in a 4-3-1-2

now who is interesting is nasri. Arsenal might sell him since he won't renew. He can play behind strikers, excellent movement and dribbling ability.
